Swimming FSU to compete at Florida Invitational

The No. 18/25 Florida State swimming and diving team will continue its season at the Florida Invitational from Thursday-Saturday in Gainesville.

The three-day last-chance meet will begin each day with prelims at 9:30 a.m. ET, and finals are set to commence at 4 p.m. at UF’s O’Connell Center Natatorium.

On Thursday, contested events will be the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and 400 medley relay. Events on Friday are the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 800 freestyle relay. The 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay will be held on Saturday.

As the Seminoles and Gators square off, swimmers will look to improve their season-best times and qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships in March. FSU is expected to have 17 swimmers at the meet.

Florida State is coming off an impressive performance at the ACC Championships from February 18-22 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Seminoles totaled 21 top-eight finishes at the five-day conference championships. At his first ACC meet, freshman Michel Arkhangelskiy won gold in the 100 backstroke and silver in the 100 butterfly, and FSU also was the runner-up in the 100 medley relay.
