FSU has been the most successful team in the past decade at the ACC Tournament. The Seminoles have claimed nine of the last 11 titles and won the last four championships. FSU is also unbeaten in its last 11 ACC Tournament games and reached the final round for a fifth straight season. The Seminoles have claimed the conference title in all 10 previous championship matches.
Florida State and North Carolina will meet for a second time this season after their 50th matchup resulted in multi-goal performances from Jordynn Dudley and freshman Solai Washington to claim a 4-2 home victory on senior night. FSU and UNC square off in the championship game for the tenth time since 2001 and fifth meeting in the past decade. The Seminoles have defeated the Tar Heels in the last four matchups for the conference title (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022).
FSU is currently averaging nearly three goals a game in the seven-game winning streak. The Seminoles scored 29 goals in ACC play, one shy of the second most in program history.
Taylor Huff leads the squad in all scoring categories with 11 goals and nine assists for 31 total points. She scored the opening goal in the ACC semifinal match against No. 3 Wake Forest and recorded her 100th career point. The senior became the fastest to reach 20+ points in the past five seasons and has already eclipsed her point tally from last season in six fewer games. Huff ranks among the conference’s best in points, goals, assists, shots on goal, and total shots. Huff was named to the All-ACC First Team this season and has claimed four all-conference team honors in her four seasons.
Jordynn Dudley has continued to deliver offensive brilliance in her sophomore season. The reigning national freshman of the year has registered 20 points off six goals and eight assists in just 12 games played. Dudley is averaging just under two points per game and leads the reigning champions in points scored in conference play. She also scored multiple goals for the United States to record a bronze medal at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup through the early stretch of the collegiate season.
The Seminole defense has held firm after losing several key defensive pieces to professional soccer. The backline has held nine shutouts throughout the season and has scored 12 goals with Kameron Simmonds and Mimi Van Zanten each scoring four goals.
Redshirt freshman Addie Todd emerged as the hero in the penalty shootout victory over No. 3 Wake Forest. Todd made several impressive stops in regulation before making back-to-back saves to send FSU to the title game. The keeper has made over 40 saves between the sticks and 25 stops in ACC play, one shy of Cristina Roque’s record in 2022.
The freshman class has performed brightly with a combined 63 total points, 21 goals and 21 assists. This marks the most freshmen goal contributions in the past five seasons across all three metrics. Wrianna Hudson leads the class with seven goals and five assists. Four of the six freshmen field players have contributed double-digit points inside 15 games.
