The Florida State volleyball team added a great piece for the 2025 class in setter Lily Nicholson. Nicholson played her first two seasons at TCU and will have two seasons of eligibility left.
“We are excited to add Lily to our team this spring. She has been part of a Top 25 successful program the last two years at TCU and will bring good experience to our program. Lily has great experience at the club level and college level as a setter, and she will be here this spring to spend time with the offense and getting use to our hitters,” FSU coach Chris Poole said.
Nicholson was phenomenal for the Horned Frogs in her two seasons in Fort Worth. Nicholson played in 54 matches in two seasons while making 41 starts. During her freshman season, Nicholson record 620 assists and 8.16 assists per set. Nicholson also recorded 161 digs an d13 aces in helping TCU reach the Round of 32.
The McKinney, Texas, native took her game to a new level in 2024. Nicholson appeared in 112 out of the teams’ 113 sets where the Horned Frogs earned their first 20-win season since 2011. Nicholson became just the eighth player in TCU history to record 1,000 assists with her 1,108 assists in her sophomore campaign. She averaged 9.89 assists per set which ranked fifth in the Big 12 and 60th nationally. She helped the Horned Frogs record a .252 hitting percentage over the course of the season which was tied for the second-best mark in school history.
Nicholson played for McKinney North High School where she was named a First Team AVCA All-American in 2022. She dished out 3,274 assists in her high school career was named the Setter of the Year by the Dallas Morning News following her junior season.
