A strong offensive performance powered Florida State Volleyball to a season-opening win on Friday night, defeating Western Carolina, 3-0, in the first match of the Classic City Clash held at the Ramsey Center on the University of Georgia campus.

The Seminoles (1-0) hit .471 in the three-set match, with seven players earning at least five kills. Junior middle blocker Kiari Robey led the way with eight kills while adding a team-best five blocks. Fellow position mate Khori Louis had seven kills in eight attacks.

Audrey Koenig, Audrey Rothman, Maddie Snider and Sydney Conley each added six kills, while Skye Ekes chipped in with five.

Freshman setter Kenna Phelan enjoyed a nice debut, as the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year contributed with 20 assists and two service aces, while graduate student Jella Draskovic added 14 assists.

Freshman Kyleene Filimaua earned the start at the libero position, recording six digs, five assists and four service aces. The Bothell, Wash., native charged up FSU in the second set when she delivered three of those aces, including consecutive ones to push the Seminoles ahead 7-2 in a frame they never looked back on.

The Catamounts (0-1) hit just .137 in the match, doubling up FSU in attack errors at 14-7. FSU was bolstered by 10 service aces in the match, including three from Robey.

Koenig led the team with 13 digs in the opener, while Phelan had seven.

Florida State has a big matchup on Saturday at 7 p.m. (SEC Network+) against tournament host Georgia.
