The Florida State Women’s Golf team has been selected to play in the NCAA Las Vegas Regional Championship May 6-8 at the Spanish Trail Country Club in Nevada as announced by the NCAA Women’s Golf Committee. The Seminoles’ selection to the NCAA Las Vegas Regional Championship marks the 18th consecutive season program has competed in an NCAA Regional – every year since 2006.

A total of 72 teams and 30 individuals have been selected to play in six regionals across the country. From each regional five teams and one individual not on those qualifying teams will advance to the National Championship Finals at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

“This is the most exciting, yet exasperating, week of the entire season,” said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond who will take her 13th consecutive team to NCAA Championship regional play. “The bottom line is you have to finish in the top five in the regional or your season is over. We absolutely have the talent and experience to advance to the championship finals, but in order to do that we need to focus on ourselves.”

The Seminoles have appeared in each NCAA regional championship since 2006. During that span of 18 consecutive years of participation in the regional championships, the Seminoles have earned two team championships (at Louisville in 2021 and at Tallahassee in 2022), finished in the top-five seven times, and in the top 10 a total of 13 times. Florida State finished in fifth place and advanced to the championship finals at the NCAA Raleigh Regional in 2023.

One of the most consistent teams across the nation in recent years, the Seminoles have earned seven consecutive top-five regional finishes under Bond – second at Shoal Creek (2016), third at Columbus (2017), second at Tallahassee (2018), second at Auburn (2019), first at Louisville (2021), first at Tallahassee (2022) and fifth at Raleigh (2023). There was no NCAA Tournament in 2020.

“I am very confident in our team and each one of our players heading in the regional,” said Bond. “We continue to build our program each year and are proud of our program’s regional success, but we know that every year is different. We have many things going for us as a team including the experience and depth of our current team which continues to perform well at every event. We’ll have our full team in the lineup for this event, which is very exciting. As always, we have to get off to a strong start and control what we can control like we have throughout the season.

“We are all excited to see what this week brings; we are built for the postseason. Now we have to seize each moment and each stroke of all three rounds and do what we do best – play great golf.”

Seniors Charlotte Heath and Alice Hodge will tie the school record for regional participation with four as they lead the Seminoles at Spanish Trail. Both Heath and Hodge played on Florida State’s regional championship teams at Louisville in 2021 and at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course in Tallahassee in 2022.

Heath finished in a tie for 14th in the individual standings at Raleigh in 2024. She is looking to build on her 1 over par finish in Raleigh when she finished with scores of 70-73-74 for a three-round total 217.

“We are all looking forward to regionals,” said Heath. “Playing in regionals is what we have grown accustomed to playing in the first week of May. We all have to stay within ourselves and play how we have played all season. This is what we work for every year.”

Hodge was at her best in regional play as she finished in a tie for third with a 2-under-par score of 214 in 2022 leading the Seminoles to the championship of the Tallahassee regional. She carded her career-best score of 65 in the third round of the championship to pace the Seminoles to victory.

“We are excited to begin playing in the regional.” Said Hodge. “I feel like we are peaking at the right time of the season. There are some very good vibes within all of the girls. This is a fun, yet stressful time of the year, but we are excited to play well at the most important time of the year.”

Florida State is one of eight ACC Teams selected to play in the 2024 NCAA Championship tournament. The Seminoles are joined by Clemson (No. 3 Seed, Bryan), Duke (No. 2 seed, Cle Elum), Miami (No. 9, Auburn), North Carolina (No. 5, Auburn), Virginia (No. 4 seed, Cle Elum), Virginia Tech (No. 8 seed, Cle Elum), and Wake Forest Wake Forest (No. 1 seed, Bermuda Run) as the league is represented in five of the six regional championships.

NCAA Bermuda Run Regional Championship (by regional seed): UCLA (1), Arkansas (2), Arizona (3), Florida State (4), Cal (5), Purdue (6), Baylor (7), Oklahoma (8), Colorado State (9), Kent State (10), Xavier (11), Dartmouth (12).
