The divers of the Florida State swimming and diving team concluded the Auburn Diving Invitational on Saturday in Auburn, Ala.
Saturday’s fourth and final day saw the women on platform at Auburn’s James E. Martin Aquatics Center. The men competed from Wednesday-Friday and the women had individual events on Thursday and Friday leading into Saturday’s finale.
Freshman Evelyn Hall led the Seminoles on Saturday and finished in ninth place on platform. She earned a score of 206.35 in the final. Junior Cassidy Carder was 17th overall with 184.60 points.
On Wednesday to begin the week, FSU’s divers earned four top-six finishes, including runner-up showings in both the men’s and women’s team events.
On Thursday, redshirt junior Kayleigh Clark won the 1-meter event while graduate student Samantha Vear was third. The men competed on 3-meter, with freshman Hayden Schroeder pacing the team in fourth.
On Friday, Vear was victorious on 3-meter and Clark added a third-place finish. The men wrapped up their week on platform as fifth-year Carlos Vargas finished fifth.
A total of 51 divers competed in at least one event at the four-day meet. The field featured athletes from host-Auburn, George Washington, Tennessee and Utah in addition to Florida State.
Up next, the Florida State swimming and diving team will return to competition on January 8 against Villanova at Morcom Aquatics Center.
