Judge Jay Rosman, age 64, and former Chief Judge of the 20th Judicial Circuit. On the bench for 30+ years. Another proud moment for the state judicial system.

Is he a good judge? If so I don't care. I'd rather an honest judge that pays for sex than a piece of crap judge that doesn't.

If he's been caught soliciting a hooker, he's likely done other things wrong, which makes him a target for blackmail or bribery, which makes him an unacceptable risk to take on the bench.

Not really. That's pure speculation.

On the other hand Pinellas has at least one judge that presides over traffic court and is a former traffic cop. Now that is completely wrong as he is in no way whatsoever impartial. I'd rather have the horndog, as should anybody who cares about the constitution.

Sure, it was his first time. You're right.

He is not very good at avoiding entrapment.

Was it entrapment? Or a sting that generated an arrest. Especially since entrapment is illegal per 777.201.

I think you meant he is not very good at avoiding arrest while attempting to commit a crime.

Seems like an awful lot of these guys getting nailed in stings and in the metoo movement are in their late 50’s to late 60’s age range. As a 45 year old, I am worried about my future decision making abilities. Like there is some sort of no f’s given Mendoza like I may cross.

Google this. It's actually pretty common for men in this age group. Empty nest, wife has gone through menopause and her sex drive has tanked. He wants to prove he's still got it and before you know it, he's on the prowl. Doesn't want a divorce because he'd undergo a huge walletectomy. He just wants to play, you know?

Not that I've been on the propositioned end of this or anything; just saying...

I thought this issue had been resolved.? Then everyone got all pissy about Ashley Madison...
even the theme song said it plainly, "Im looking for someone. other than my wife. other than my wife. other than my wife..." So many .gov emails caught up in it...

It's a long tradition in Fort Myers.

Back in the 1980's three Lee County Commissioners were busted for kickbacks after a tv video of them on a boat with hookers, then there was the commissioner arrested in the middle of a public hearing for tax evasion, another went to club fed for hanky panky with a bond lobbyist, more recently there was a wire fraud commissioner and a DUI wreck commissioner.

The bad news/good news is Fort Myers is not unique.

The Judge resigned. Too bad really, all he wanted was to hear again..”here comes the judge”.

Have to wonder what this guy was thinking (he obviously wasn’t). I mean, he was obviously dealing with an unknown person, and not going back to a proven paramour. He’s now unemployed, likely facing a divorce, and professionally and socially untouchable. All for one episode of oral delight?? Please. Troubling that someone with such atrocious thought processes had been passing judgment on others — on serious matters — for 20+ years. Everyone makes mistakes, of course, but this one strikes me as a whopper.

.......... Troubling that someone with such atrocious thought processes had been passing judgment on others — on serious matters — for 20+ years. .........

literally, has a top 5 bad judgement event in his personal life but has been passing judgement on 100s of people professionally. Does this open up any of his old cases.... What type of judge was he?

But of course this was the first and only time he decided to do this.

Old cases are over, and cannot be reopened based on "this." I suspect he handled a little bit of everything over the years in Ft. Myers.....civil, criminal, probate, divorce, whatever. Would be interesting to know if he was a "no-nonsense judge" who was harsh on criminals.....how ironic, given his own criminality.

And, yes, highly unlikely that he was busted on his first and only dalliance. Disappointing on all levels, as it undermines the integrity of the whole legal process.
