has released a statement that he was in the Uber ride with Jameis Winston and stated no contact was made, the story is untrue. This will be the second time RD has had to defend JW. I’ll link in a second.

I tend not to believe the report. She never called the police, zero proof, and why would he just start grabbing an uber driver.

However, it's probably worse if Ronald Darby was actually there...again.

People are just going to see former FSU player defending former FSU player. But if true, this already puts a dent in the drivers original story of him being the only person in the car.

Or Jameis' story that he got the car for someone else

Will Rogers never met an Uber driver he would touch.

The unrealistic expectations are amazing. That’s not something you call the police over. It’s the kind of thing a driver reports to Uber and Uber follows up on. She did. It did. It suspended Winston’s account. IF it happened that’s exactly what should have been done.

I have heard Uber drivers say lots of riders act really wrong at times. Most people use Uber when they’re drinking a lot so it’s not surprising.

Wait, I know you're the TC attorney, but you are saying that a person shouldn't call the police when sexually assaulted, and neither should their employer? From a lay person, that sounds really flawed.

No. The allegation is the guy put his hand on her crotch. Then removed it. It’s terrible behavior but if that’s the sort of thing people are reporting to the police, were gonna need a LOT more police.

Basically, the kind of stuff that happens on the NYC subway everyday.. I'm willing to bet that every attractive female that rides the subway can tells stories of this happening

This is my problem with the current wave of "me too" complainants. They all present he said/she said pissing matches, and they would be virtually impossible to sort out even if contemporaneously reported. But when you wait 2-3-20-30 years to bring them up, I am not sure what you are really hoping to accomplish.

What's the point of saying it happens all the time on the subway? There is no justification for this act, ever.

And I 100% agree with you.. I'm just making a point to what AllNoles said in that it doesn't get reported to the police.

It’s not saying it’s ok. It’s pointing out that suggesting this is regularly reported to the police is ridiculous. People are applying a fundamentally irrational expectation to her response in order to question her credibility. It just shows how far people will reach to assume it’s not true, which in turn shows why women don’t report a lot worse.

I’d love to see Winston’s response to Uber telling him this in March 2016.

Only thing I have seen that Jameis said about this is that there were others in the car. Never saw him say he wasn't in the car.
One of his reps suggested that before Winston publicly responded. But I can’t recall if it was that clear of a suggestion.

So if sexual assault isn't worth reporting, then why are we talking about this ?
Is your world that binary? Things are either worthy of police investigation and criminal charges or they are perfectly acceptable?

Apparently the point is that this isnt really a big enough thing to report to police. Just to sue for money for.
Who has sued anyone?

If Darby's story is to be believed then the Uber driver fabricated large parts of her story.

"I felt the need to come forward and clarify some inaccurate accounts of the evening of March 13, 2016 when myself, a friend and Jameis Winston took an Uber ride in Arizona," Darby said. "There were three of us in the car, not just one as has been reported. Myself and Jameis were in the backseat."

On on TC.

Have you guys seen the TV commercial with the athletes, maybe non as well. Basically, saying enough is enough and we need to reshape society on acceptable behavior.

They should buy Ad space and pin that here.

Maybe she did. I wasn’t there. But if she did, she must have had a long con in mind. She reported it immediately and then waited 18 months?

This isn't like someone's dog pooped in someone else' s yard. They are accusing the man of sexual assault. Yet, no investigation was done at the time. So it's again just a huge accusation that will never provide anything other than the public assuming he's guilty. Which he may or may not be. If he did do it, and she had called the police, what would the penalty be? Would he do jail time for grabbing her crotch ?

Agree. Story wreaks of an attention seeking, money grubbing $!#@&.

I do not believe everything I read or hear; however, it's sad that we try to trivialize or blame the victim all to often when sexual assault occurs. It's never ok and it should always be reported. ALWAYS.

Whats BS? Do you really think what she alleges would be something women go to the police about? A lot of them don’t go to the police about a lot worse.

I asked two cop friends yesterday about this. The both said they’d be shocked to get that complaint and that it’s not something they could really do anything about unless someone really really wanted it pushed. And then they’d expect a prosecutor to drop it.

The degree to which people will make up excuses is mind boggling.

It wouldn’t even be investigated.

Nobody is making excuses. To a lay person, grabbing someone' crotch is sexual assault which seems like a crime. If it's not, don't make me out to be making excuses for why it didn't happen. That's not what's going on here. But you keep pushing that.

I believe either she or Uber did just recently based on all the public outing of bad behavior. But that doesn’t change that it’s totally unrealistic to think she should have called the police.

FWIW I don’t like the NFL investigating it. That’s not their role. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

I’m not making it personal. At least not trying to. I’m just pointing out that you’re laying out an unrealistic straw man to conclude she’s a liar. I agree with you in a lot of ways but that doesn’t change the reality that this isn’t the kind of thing you’d expect a woman to report to the police.

I'm the one that brought up calling the police, so by saying that's unrealistic you are making it personal. I could just be wrong that that's worth calling the police about. It doesn't mean I'm building a straw man argument.

Why would she or Uber call his employer to report this?
