With under 6 minutes to go, James Blackman is inserted into the game. He completes a pass for 13, scrambles for 13, later faces 4th and 1 and is blown up as he releases the ball resulting in an interception
Miami 27, FSU 10 3:16 4th Qtr

Miami with a chunk play in the form of a 26 yds reception by Jeff Thomas, drive ends with a 32 yard field goal to put the Canes up by 3 scores
Miami 27, FSU 10 6:27 4th Qtr

Miami gets a big punt return again - after a flag is picked up for illegal block in the back - and on the very first play the Canes hit a 54-yard TD pass. Taylor, playing safety, took a bizarre route to that ball. And was turned around as the ball sailed over his shoulder. Anywho .... 24-10 Miami.
Miami 24, Florida State 10 12:05 4th Qtr

Miami goes for the FG. Misses wide right. As far as I can remember that's the biggest missed kick in series history. Anyway, FSU takes over and Hornibrook gets roughed on third down - looks like targeting.
Miami 17, Florida State 10 13:50 4th Qtr

FSU defense got two stops the rest of the quarter, but couldn't do anything on offense. The last drive started at the 1. After a Tommy Martin 11-yard punt, FSU got a stop but Matthews didn't catch the line drive punt and it rolled to the 1. A three-and-out and a 20-yard return on a punt gives Miami great field position. Canes face fourth and 1 at the FSU 20 to start the fourth quarter.
Miami 17, Florida State 10 15:00 4th Qtr

Florida State goes 62 yards in six plays. Almost all of them out of the Wild Cam. Hornibrook hits Akers for an 18-yard swing pass into the end zone. Nice blocking out wide.
Miami 17, Florida State 10 10:31 2nd Qtr

Florida State gets picked on the first series of the third quarter. Terry gets the ball deflected on a third-down pass directed toward him and Miami intercepts the deflection. But the Seminoles' defense answers by getting a stop on fourth down. FSU will now have its best starting field position - at its own 38 - to start this drive. So far, FSU has run the Wild Cam four times. For 21 yards.

Florida State went three and out again on next possession. Martin with a terrible punt gave Miami great field position. Again. FSU defense stiffened up a bit, holding the Canes to a field goal attempt. Which was good from 29 yards out on the final play of the second quarter.
Miami 17, Florida State 3 HALFTIME

Florida State gets a turnover when Gainer strips Williams of the ball. But FSU can do nothing with it. They go for it on fourth down. A pedestrian handoff to Akers on 4th and 1 out of the shotgun. Not surprisingly, it was stuffed. Miami then went right down the field and scored. Hit a 30-yard pass on third down and then Dallas walked in from 6 yards out.
Miami 14, Florida State 3 3:58 2nd Qtr

Both teams trade punts, then FSU has its drive of the day. Hornibrook scrambled for a first down and then found Terry on the sideline for a tough 20-yard catch to convert another third down. But a first and goal at the 10 turned into a fourth and goal at the 20 after Hornibrook got sacked for the third time. Offensive line getting bulldozed so far. Which isn't a surprise. Anywho, Aguayo converted the FG and Miami leads 7-3. That was a 17-play drive that took almost seven minutes.
Miami 7, Florida State 3 10:15 2nd Qtr

Miami goes 80 yards on its next drive, highlighted by a 42-yard screen pass to Dallas and then a 39-yard TD strike to Jeff Thomas, who beat Renardo Green on the play. He was wide open in the end zone.
Miami 7, Florida State 0

Both teams exchange punts to start the game. FSU's drive done in by a hold on McKitty. Hornibrook was almost intercepted on third down. Nice job by Martin to get off a solid punt under a heavy rush.
Florida State 0, Miami 0 11:01 1st Qtr

Renegade with another strong effort. Reared back like a champ. FSU won the toss. Deferred until the second half.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3:10 p.m. -- Teams have headed back to the locker rooms. Not a great crowd, 25 minutes til kickoff. Will be better than a lot of these games, but still not what you'd expect for FSU-Miami.

3 p.m. -- Hornibrook seems to be going first in all the warmups.

2:50 p.m. -- Looks like some of the injured guys are doing better with their recoveries. Kaindoh is walking around with his right foot/lower leg in a boot. Helton is in a leg brace, but he's not using the scooter to get around the way he was last week. Lars-Woodbey also walking well with a leg brace. Ontaria Wilson still has his shoulder in a sling.

2:40 p.m. -- In pregame, Blackman is taking snaps from Baveon, while Hornibrook is taking snaps from Boselli. Would seem to suggest that Hornibrook is starting again, as expected. He and Boselli are where the starters are normally lined up.

2:23 p.m. -- Based on how he's dressed in pregame, looks like S Cyrus Fagan is still out.

2:05 p.m. -- Aguayo is going through normal warmups, so I'm guessing he will be the kicker this week after missing last week due to illness. ... Hornibrook is out throwing with some of the receivers.

2 p.m. -- Just a handful of players are out warming up. Cory Durden and Dontae Lucas just spent a few minutes jawing with a few Miami guys who had walked down to the Seminoles' side of the field. They were separated, but not much to it.

------

Good afternoon! We’ll have updates from Doak shortly as players from both teams take the field for pregame warmups.

It really is a beautiful day for football weather-wise.
