The Hurricanes scored one more TD for good measure. Rodemaker led the Seminoles down to the Miami 2 at the end of the game but they couldn't get in. And that's the ball game.
An utter beatdown.
Miami 52, Florida State 10 FINAL

Not surprisingly, Miami goes right back down the field and scores. The big play was a personal foul targeting call on Marvin Wilson that extended the drive.
Miami 45, Florida State 10 13:33 4th Qtr

Florida State drives inside the Miami 5. But a false start on Baveon Johnson, and a Blackman INT in the end zone, ends the threat. Was trying to throw it to Thompson. He wasn't open.
Miami 38, Florida State 10 5:36 3rd Qtr

Seminoles get their first stop of the game when Knighton fumbles.
Florida State takes over around its own 30 and then immediately gets a targeting call on Miami after Blackman almost gets Thompson killed. 8:29 left. Seminoles around midfield.
Miami 38, Florida State 10 8:29 3rd Qtr

FSU takes the opening kick and marches right down the field. Cam McDonald has three catches, including an 11-yard TD. Douglas made two catches as well. Blackman started, hit most of his passes, didn't get sacked, and took the short throws. It worked well.
Miami 38, Florida State 10 12:35 3rd Qtr

Seminoles had a nice drive going there - mainly on two Travis runs and a nice run by Corbin --- but Blackman was sacked over and over and over again. Went for it on 4th and 20 around midfield. He was sacked. Because why wouldn't he be? Miami goes down the field and kicks a 28-yard field goal as time expires. Just a debacle of a half. I don't know what FSU will decide to do in the second half. Travis limped off the field before the half was over. But James Blackman really doesn't need to take another meaningful snap for this program. Then again, nothing in the second half will be meaningful anyway. So, maybe he just wears the next two quarters and then the freshmen/Travis play the rest of the season?
Anywho ...
Miami 38, Florida State 3 HALFTIME

If you're still reading this? ...... Florida State offense has another three and out. Blackman scrambles when he doesn't have to. Twice. Then gets sacked when blitzer comes from the blindside and he didn't see him. Miami goes right back down the field. Again. Because good lord, why wouldn't they? That's five drives. Five touchdowns. And an utter embarrassment at Hard Rock.
Miami 35, Florida State 3 2nd Qtr 3:37

MIami then scores on the second play. King finds Wiggins - who beat the brakes off Brownlee - as he was getting planted by Marvin Wilson. 40-yard TD. Miami has now scored on all four possessions. This one is ugly. And is only going to get uglier. FSU looks to have given up in almost record time.
Miami 28, Florida State 3 10:22 2nd Qtr

Florida State offense goes three and out again. Seminoles catch a break temporarily when Miami fumbles the ensuing punt. But on the very first play, a reverse pass from Travis, is an utter debacle and turns into a terrible interception when he was trying to throw it away. Would have been a 15-yard loss if he didn't try to get rid of the ball.
Miami 21, Florida State 3 11:00 2nd Qtr

Miami wastes no time marching right down the field. Again. Two Jaleel McRae penalties, a pass interference and a ridiculous personal foul where he just decided to push the kid when he was six yards out of bounds sets up the Hurricanes at the 12. And they score on the next play. Going to be a LONG night.
Miami 21, Florida State 3 13:00 2nd Qtr

A debacle of a drive for FSU. A delay of game to start. Then a 3-yard loss on a sweep with Terry. Then a 4-yard loss on a read play. Then a false start. Then a nice run by Corbin on a draw but it was third and 29.
So effectively a three and out and now Miami has the ball right back.
Miami 14, Florida State 3 14:00 2nd Qtr

Florida State defense just can't get off the field. Allowed three more third-down conversions and another fourth-down conversion. So Miami is 6 of 8 on third downs and the two they didn't get they picked up on the next play anyway. Another 75-yard drive. Miami has also now run 28 plays. In one quarter. Seminoles are playing hard, physical, but that ain't good enough.
Miami 14, Florida State 3 :19 1st Qtr

FSU puts together a terrific drive. Jordan Travis was lined up all over the field. Took snaps at QB, took a handoff on a reverse. Had four positive runs. Wilson had a couple of catches. Toafili made a nice move in space, too. Seminoles go 74 yards all the way down to the Miami 1. But a TFL, a Blackman incompletion and then a false start later and they have to settle for a field goal.
Miami 7, Florida State 3 5:00 1st Qtr

Miami goes right down the field. Picks up three third downs and a fourth down. The last 22 yards come on a TD pass to Jordan. Not sure how in the world he's that open in the middle of the field. But he was.
13-play, 75-yard drive. FSU defense got ZERO pressure on King. Except for the one time they blitzed. He picked up the first down anyway.
Miami 7, Florida State 0

Florida State will be kicking off. Seminoles won the toss.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7:37 p.m. -- Starting OL looks fine health-wise.

One note of interest -- I heard a whisper before the game that Jordan Travis will see an expanded role tonight ... perhaps at multiple positions. So we'll see how that plays out. ... The teams are in the locker rooms for final words from coaches.

7:28 p.m. -- Nasirildeen is NOT in uniform for warmups.

7:27 p.m. -- Can't see well from where we are, but this is the best I could do.

7:21 p.m. -- All four QBs out now getting loose with the other skill players.

7:18 p.m. -- And the players are back on the field for warmups. Not sure if the kickoff time has been delayed, but likely at least a few minutes.

6:49 p.m. -- FSU and Miami players leaving the field and heading to the locker rooms. There is lightning in the area. So this thing might be delayed.

6:45 p.m. -- FSU DE Josh Kaindoh has a brace on his left knee, but he looks like he's going to go through pregame warmups. Also K Ryan Fitzgerald is back as expected this week.

6:33 p.m. -- Stop me if you've heard this before. But there is some lightning in the area. Can't imagine it's gonna be a huge problem, but we'll see.

6:23 p.m. -- WRs out there doing some light running. Looks like all the RBs and WRs are accounted for. ... One thing I heard while coming in was that there don't appear to be many players affected by COVID, if any. So that's good news.

6:17 p.m. -- Running backs out now. QBs were out earlier -- and all four appear to be suiting up (James, Jordan, Chubba and Tate).

----

6:10 p.m. -- Getting in and through screening was a bit of an ordeal, but we're here.

A few FSU players are outloosening up. Hamsah Nasirildeen came out wearing a T-shirt and shorts with his No. 5 on. Just came out and walked around, but seemed like he might be getting ready to play. Definitely a better sign than if he was wearing street clothes. But we'll see.

Will have more shortly.

----

Howdy folks.

Checking in from near Hard Rock Stadium just past 5 p.m. The parking lot and press box don’t open until 5:30.

So look for pregame updates from inside the stadium around 5:45. As usual, we’ll be looking for any possible position changes and player availability.
