Wife and I invited to Saturdays 3PM game...will stay at the Marriot Waterside Saturday night...are their recommended restaurants within walking distance to go for dinner?

thx

That's in the cultural museum unless there's another one. Not sure if it would be open for dinner.

It's usually open into the evenings, I've eaten there a number of times prior to games. They have a scaled down version of the Columbia menu, with a decent variety of choices.

In what's left of Channelside Plaza, the food's actually pretty good at the bowling alley, Splitsville; and Precinct Pizza's not bad if you just want something like that.

Or you could always hop on the trolley & take it to Ybor, there are more choices there.

Jackson's is the best for dinner or brunch. Hattrick's and Ferg's are sports bars nearby. American Social is also cool but after 10ish it becomes more of a club. Lots of great options just outside of downtown like Columbia, Ulele, Armature Works, Hall on Franklin, etc.

Just across the channel behind the Marriott - Cafe Dufrain is good and there is a new restaurant named Waterview Grille. Both owned by the same guy. American Social is good for a drink, but the food is meh. Hattricks is great for wings and beer. Columbia Cafe, as previously mentioned, is a scaled down version of the Columbia menu but is still good, and the location is great. Noble Rice is very good, but small and a little further of a walk. Cena is also good.

Columbia Cafe is my choice in the area.

You like spending too much money on disappointing amounts of food in overhyped "experiences", huh?

Best bet if you're not looking to waste a ton of money on food (as opposed to the options above...as there's too many overpriced places in the downtown area IMHO) are either Hattricks or Yeomans. Post-game, if you're looking for a cool/relaxed atmosphere, those are the places to go to that are within walking distance.

Those two look good!

If the weather is nice there is an outdoor place called the sail pavilion that has decent food and great atmosphere. Hattricks will be PACKED. There is a Thai place in walking distance that is good if you want something different. It's North of Amalie near the Courtyard/residence inn

I never look at eating good food as wasting money, but to each his own I guess. Hattricks is great, as I mentioned. Eddie & Sams is awesome if they are looking for a great slice of pizza.

Yeomans is my fave downtown spot but it will be packed on Sat. Take the water taxi down to Armature Works after the game. Put your name in at Ulele (will be about a hour wait) and grab a drink at Armature. That’s a solid Sat evening.

I ate at Armature Works the last time I was in Tampa. That's one of the better food halls I've been to. Good suggestion.

One of the best pizza restaurants in the south, Eddie & Sam's, is 6 blocks N on Twiggs St. They import NY water(so they say) to make the dough.
