I tend to use the gen2 first HD one the most.
My original one still works great. I don't think it makes too much of a difference.
For a second I thought you took the GoPro into the delivery roomOriginally posted by DanC78:
I LOVE my GoPro....I highly recommend everyone own one. They take GREAT videos, the time lapse+video function is awesome.
I use mine all the time. Put 40 gigs of videos and pics from Easter weekend. You can watch on time lapse and see an entire day or night in 2 minutes. Helps you relive an entire day without having to rifle through pics or watch videos that last for ever.
Being able to control the camera from your phone makes it super easy to use as well.
I used it for the birth of our little one as well...turned out GREAT!

I agree with this...the GoPro is situational, and best used for first person experience, and/or enviroments that are no bigger than the size of your typical living room. It does not have a zoom feature.Originally posted by Lemon Thrower:
I coach youth football.
my wife has filed with a HD video camera on a monopod from the sideline. I prefer this as you get steady shots, a wide field of view, and she starts and stops the camera for each play so i end up with a series of 60-80 short video which are easier to share.
there was a coach in our league who wore a go pro in the huddle (this was elementary kids with coach in the huddle). it worked, but the narrow field of view and depth really distorted things and made it less preferable.maybe they have solved these but a few years ago this was the case.
of course, if you don't have someone available to film, its a good solution. also, for certain things, like skydiving or white water rafting, you want that first-person perspective. but i think in most cases traditional is better.
you can get a high quality standard HD camera that records on data cards for about $300.
yeah...it's not on my forehead or anything. I put in a spot my wife was comfortable with and would still capture my little dudes entrance.Originally posted by Formerly Rockymtnole:

I have a feeling he is going to get tired of seeing it...I'm thinking that I'll be watching it every birthday, graduation, wedding day, etc.Originally posted by Formerly Rockymtnole:
I skimmed it at first.
That's actually really cool and I bet your son will really enjoy seeing that when he's older.

Cool backwards hat for the biggest moment of your life.
The GoPro to me is not a "general camcorder". I wouldn't consider using it for recording kids ballgames unless the camera was mounted somewhere on the kid if you get my drift. Recording from the sideline would turn out much better using something that didn't have a fisheye lense. I know you can make some setting changes to help reduce it but if you have watched a video from say a Samsung Note 4 or an iPhone 6 and compared it to a GoPro, the quality is completely different if the person using the camera is stationary. We took a cruise this year for spring break and people were using all sorts of high quality cameras at the beach and other stuff that was around the same price or less than a GoPro and they had some accessories that gave them similar features.Originally posted by maddog69:
Help me decide if I need one. Been looking on and off for some time. Going to use it as a general camcorder for kids ballgames and hiking/camping/fishing.
What is difference between 3 & 4, Silver & Black then there's a surf model?
Holy shite man, that was not exactly what I was expecting when I opened that link.Originally posted by DanC78:

"No video during delivery" was my wife's only demand
Did she let your record the conception since she's such a trooper?Originally posted by DanC78:
