Apparently the reboot has been in the books for awhile and I missed it. I came across it in an article talking about the other reboots this season (Magnum PI, Cagney & Lacey, Murphy Brown and Charmed).

Those are the same people?
No. That is the actress who will star in the reboot.

To answer Russ' question, I think they're trying to see if they can make it even suckier:

Inspired by the 1980s TV show of the same name, The Greatest American Hero centers around Meera, a 30-year-old woman who loves tequila and karaoke and has spent her life searching and failing to find meaning, much to the chagrin of her traditional Indian-American family. An inexplicable event occurs that will change the course of Meera’s life forever: She is entrusted with a super suit to protect the planet. Meera may have finally found purpose, but the world has never been in more unreliable hands.

I won't defend it on any level, but I loved that show.

Same here. It was cheesy 80s trash, but I enjoyed it along with other cheesy 80s trash like the A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider and Airwolf.

Its theme song is also one of the five songs that play in my head when I’m just walking around thinking about moi.

Sounds like just the thing to take out HBO and Netflix.

I laughed until I cried on the first episode and thought this was going was going to be a great one. It got old quick and wasn't. Never has their been such a drop off from pilot to series imo.

I see we have angry elf today.
Not angry, just doesn't make any sense. Despite the show occurring during my youth, I have no particular recollection of it at all - compared to all the other "80s trash " that Tribe listed, which I enjoyed.

As a network you really have to be on death's door to resurrect ideas that weren't even viable the first time around.

But it will work this time because Hollyweird has embraced the PC culture.

Spoiler alert ...................... she loses the instructions.

I liked the show. A lot of that had to do with the theme song.

And if they think they can reboot Magnum, good luck with that.

I still remember the theme song and haven't heard it in years. Like 30 years...

Anyone remember “Tales of the Gold Monkey”? Early 80’s and didn’t last long, but I loved it.

Has there ever been a reboot that meets or exceeds the original?

The only reboots I liked better than the original that I can think of are Battlestar Galactica, John Carpenter’s The Thing, Spider-Man Homecoming, The Fly, The Wizard of Oz (the version most people know is the second reboot), The Flash, and Voltron. There’s probably some others but that’s all I can remember.

Believe it or not ... George isn't at home. Please leave a message at the beeeeep. I must be out or I'd pick up the phone. Where could I be? Believe it or not I'm not home.

The Magnum reboot was going to feature some pretty girl as his daughter and detective. Now it is going to be a different dude playing Magnum once again returning to civilian life....
