Billy Flynn, the trigger man in the Gregg Smart murder, was paroled this morning after 24 years in prison and the past year at a minimum security facility in Maine. Pam Smart is the only defendant in prison after all of these years. Patrick Randall, who held down Gregg Smart is being held at a minimum security facility that serves as a work release program and he should be out soon. Vance Lattime, the driver was paroled in 2005 and Raymond Fowler, who sat in the get away car with Latimme was paroled in 2003.
This all happened about 15 minutes from here, and has been in the news for 25 years. This was one of the most notorious murders ever to happen up here. A coworker of mine was called for jury selection but was dismissed, probably because of his age (20 or 21 at the time).
I know they were just kids and probably star struck by Smart, but they knew what they were doing and all four of them are lucky to be free again, IMO.
