The kids graduating was definitely a game-changer in terms of my willingness to just “blindly” run to Tallahassee every (or every other) weekend. It's scary how much we think alike. We gave up season tickets after 31 years of making the trip from Jacksonville, mostly because our 3 sons had graduated from college and moved away. We all missed it at first but by the 2nd season we realized it wasn't so bad.
I cannot believe what I hear the hotel rates are these days, and a 2 night minimum........geesh
I also realized the first ~25 years of my extreme FSU addiction — and we used to do many of the road games too — were very Bowden-centric. After he left — and I saw more and more jerks and/or buffoons running the thing, or poorly representing us — it dawned on me that I loved Bobby more than I loved the program. At that point I started analyzing “value” and “enjoyment,” and — after the kids graduated — realized I wasn’t getting much in Tallahassee.
