Fired up Netflix last night, grabbed a cold brew out of the fridge, settled back and chose the original "Smokey and the Bandit". Ahhh........it was great, both the cold beer and the movie. As I watched the scenes with Burt and Sally playing off of each other including the Deep Throat kissing scene I could tell old Burt kinda had a thing for Sally. Brought a smile to my face. :D

Yes, they were an item for a while. He wrote a book before he passed away, "But Enough About Me!" in which he discussed his relationships with other actors, old flames, movie execs, etc. He talked about Sally as one of his life's regrets in not hanging on to her.

I would like to read a book that was written after the author passed away.

I was 14 when it came out...I remember thinking that Trans Am in the movie was the coolest car on earth.

I went to our Pontiac dealer in 1978 to buy one and they increased in price from around $5500 to over $6000 from 1977 to 1978 probably from the popularity of the movie. I decided I couldn't afford it

Big Enos:
Son, you're looking at a legend.

Little Enos:
I guess a legend and an out-of-work bum look a lot a like, daddy.
Little known fact- The actor who played Little Enos is Paul Williams who composed several major hits including "The Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie, The Carpenter's "We've Only Just Begun", and "The Love Boat" theme.

He was also in the movie "Phantom of the Paradise"

Yeah - super cool and super fast. That is, if you think 0-60 in 7.7 seconds is fast. Today, that’s peppy.

My dad went to FSU with him and called him Buddy. I remember Dad taking me to see it when I was a kid. Dad told me he had more girls than Buddy in school and even as a kid I said, "come on Dad". I have his old FSU year books with Bert and Corso who was an ATO with my dad.

Sally was it for me from the first Flying Nun (Father forgive me...) episode.

My best friend met her once and said she was the most beautiful woman he ever met, with the exception of his wife, who resembled her in all the right ways...

In 1978 I was rotating back to the states from Holland and I was deciding between a black & gold Trans Am or a Corvette. Ended up going down to the local GM dealer and ordering a Silver Anniversary Corvette. Good decision.

The part where Jackie Gleason (Sheriff Buford T. Justice) has been communicating with Sheriff Branford only on the police radio and had not seen him as of yet......then he finally meets him in person and seeing Sheriff Branford is black..... Jackie looks surprised and says....."You Sounded Taller On The Radio."

Yeah, he was called Buddy when he came to FSU. His Dad called him that growing up.

That is an attention getter. Lots of great lines in the movie. Shut cho face.

She spoke very poorly of Burt after he died. Abuse, controlling, etc.

One of my favorite movies. My Dad, he loved Jackie Gleason. Great memories of watching this and Stripes with him and laughing our tails off.

There is a scene in there that has a good trout fishing hole in GA, it’s actually referred to “The Smokey and Bandit curve”

Sherrif Buford T. Justice: " 'Dat's very comfortin'...but I'm in high-speed pursuit. Don't you hear good?"
Sherrif George Branford: "I hear perfectly. The fact that you're a sheriff is not germane to the situation."
Sherrif Buford T. Justice: "The GODDAMNED GERMANS got nuttin' to do wit' dis!!!!!!"

I can do this all day. Love the movie. So dated as to be ludicrous today, but hilarious at certain points.
