Having my finger buttholed tommorow..

Wifey talks about her Doctor dad slamming a big heavy book down on cysts to break them up. I never had a chance to meet the guy as he died young, but I like his style.
See if they will give you a jar full of cyst-ness, Belem. That would be awesome on the shelf. Imagine the colors...

That's funny, I told my Dr that my dad had one on his wrist once but that it wasn't operated on - he says "let me guess, someone hit it with a book?" I was shocked, had no idea that was a thing, thought dad was just telling stories.
Because mine is growing on the joint they recommend against hitting it with a book...

Hah, not many have heard of that technique these days. One of my brothers has had several big ones taken out of his back and apparently he caught a whiff of one of them. He said it was overwhelming.
Good luck.

I had a ganglion on my wrist..It would bust on its own after a few weeks. That occurred about 4 times over the course of a couple years. The last time it came back I had surgery on it. Hasn't been back since and that's been about 5 years..

The book method bursts the cyst, but the sac is still there so it will likely come back. Need to remove the sac.

any advice?

They're actually going to jab my thumb with a really big needle to drain a ganglion cyst so it's really almost true. My thumb will have a new orifice...

Its over a joint....is it near the fingernail of your thumb?
There’s something called a “synovioal or mucoid” cyst which is actually a part of the capsule around the joints.

It's between the knuckle and the fingernail, but creeping up over/around the knuckle. It's been there a few months, growing. But now it's starting to bother me.

So I do not have a new butthole in my thumb. Turns out my GP was wrong and the lump is not fluid filled but a mass of some sort. Most likely benign but will have to be carved out of me. So hitting it with a book would only have left me with a sore(er) thumb. Still, feel free to hit yourselves with books and post the results here.

Massive thumb. Impressive.

I had one on the top of my wrist for years. I asked my ortho at the time (an FSU grad by the way) if he would operate on it while I was under for shoulder surgery on the same side. Wasn’t sure if he would do it, but woke up in recovery with my wrist bandaged and the cyst gone.

I have had two infected lipoma cysts on my back. They swelled like a grapefruit and hurt like hell.

Had a cyst on back years ago, my MD removed it under a simple local. He chatted about his new boat and F-350 he used to pull it all through the procedure. The cyst had tentacles so that sent it out for pathology. I'm good
