You have a lot of options. I transitioned from the Nike+ app to a Garmin Forerunner 220, however, I stll carry my iphone around for the music, emergencies or to call home when you realized you forgot to take out the trash and will not make it back on time. I purchased a runners belt for my phone which is discret, waterproof and very comfortable. The phone fits in the belt nicely. I prefer not to use headphones in order to hear the urban surroundings and opt to listen via bluetooth on a Super Tooth. The Super Tooth fits into almost any sized armband is light and loud. I may eventually move the Super Tooth to a separate belt and keep the speaker and phone on opposite sides of my body due of the magnet on the Super Tooth. Result, no more sliding armbands and with the Garmin... no more wrapping the phone up in a ziplock bag to protect it when running in the rain. Note: There are several inexpensive Garmin models out there for running. Check out the Garmin Outlet site as well.
Example of a Super Tooth (I use an older model)

Example of a belt (This one is cool as it would keep the phone and speaker separated - Thinking about ordering now).

Good Luck To You
