Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder gave few additional details in a briefing shortly after it was revealed the US military shot down an unidentified object flying over Alaska Thursday night. When questioned about the possibility of second Chinese balloon, Ryder said the US has yet to reach out to China over the latest object.

The White House has also said that ownership has not been established. Ryder additionally repeated that the aircraft had been seen as a hazard to civilian aviation, and that it was shot down by an F-22 jet with a sidewinder missile. According to more from the Pentagon press briefing:

  • The Pentagon cannot say if the object shot down over Alaska was a balloon, it is sure that there were no people on board: Kirby
  • Pentagon says object shot down over Alaska "wasn't an aircraft per say"
  • U.S. Military used F-22 aircraft to take down object over Alaska on Friday, using a sidewinder missile: Pentagon
  • Ryder says U.S. Army CH-47 helicopters have launched to recover debris from the downed ‘object’ in NE Alaska in the frozen waters near the U.S.-Canadian border.

The question is "Why publicize it?". If the public was unaware of the object, just keep it secret. What is accomplished it by publishing it other than advancing an agenda?

Because they shot nothing down quickly which looks better compared to waiting line last time.

What agenda is being advanced if the government keeps secret that it is shooting down things at the border?

Just seems like something the people oughta know, not sure what is served trying to keep it secret.

If the pilots could identify the object then they would’ve shared it with their Commander in Chief and the public would know by now.

We know as much as they know right now. Let the administration do it’s due diligence and we’ll all hopefully have an answer soon.

No need to spread rumors.

I don’t think he is spreading rumors. More like sharing his unique perspective (as an experienced military pilot) on the subject.

I'm wondering if somebody is ramping up to do something really big tomorrow while most of America's attention is on the Super Bowl.

You’ll be told exactly what they want you to know. That’s how things work. Be assured if they told you an object was shot down that’s only part of the story. That is if anything was really shot down at all.

You would be smart to be thinking this way. It's the way it's done, but trust me, we're on it.
Yes but these commands are on alert all the time. This could be a diversion for a Taiwan offensive if it was anything at all.

“When the US first detected this object over Alaska on Thursday, they sent up F-35 jets to … see what was going on,” she explained. “And these pilots reported back very conflicting accounts”.

The pilots of the cutting-edge stealth fighters said “that this object was actually interfering with the sensors of their aircraft and they couldn't figure out why, because there was no identifiable kind of surveillance equipment on the object,” she said.

The pilots were also mystified as to what kind of aircraft they were actually dealing with.

According to Bertrand, the pilots “were saying that they did not see anything on the object that appeared able to propel it, that it seemed like there was no way that this was actually able to stay in the air”.

It’s possible that in the head of the high-speed, high-altitude encounter the pilots may have misinterpreted the type of aircraft, which was described as being “about the size of a small car”.

A Pentagon official told ABC News that the object was “cylindrical and silver-ish gray” and gave the “balloon-like” appearance of floating without “any sort of propulsion”.

Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General. Patrick Ryder said that recovery teams are now collecting the debris that is sitting on top of ice in US territorial waters.

Asked whether the Alaska object was related to the giant Chinese airship spotted over Missouri, Brig. Gen. Ryder said they appeared to be very different, saying it was like comparing “apples and oranges”

Glad we gave them an ‘American greeting’…

The spy balloon was real, and only shot down after it did it’s job

Now we’re to believe they suddenly grew a set of balls and are proactive in protecting our airspace?

How do we know if these are just drones we sent up on purpose so our govt can save face and shoot them down?

Like Gary said the pilots know what their seeing

Now it’s ufo’s
