High-Altitude Object Over Alaska Shot Down By F-22 Jet; CH-47 Helicopters Deployed In Recovery Op

Anyway, the American public is going to get the explanation that will be the most acceptable to the vast majority of the population.

Had the things not been seen by the public, then maybe we would have no news at all. I'm fairly certain that the majority of population has no idea that we thwarted close to 5k attempts on the US, just in the year after 9/11.

The spy balloon was real, and only shot down after it did it’s job

Now we’re to believe they suddenly grew a set of balls and are proactive in protecting our airspace?

How do we know if these are just drones we sent up on purpose so our govt can save face and shoot them down?

Like Gary said the pilots know what their seeing

Now it’s ufo’s

Please
RE “How do we know if these are just drones we sent up on purpose so our govt can save face and shoot them down?”

Please tell me this part is completely tongue-in-cheek self-deprecating hyperbole and not a legit serious question.

Whatever the reason, we are all talking about it. Somebody is getting their point across. Next time my kid has a birthday party, I’m not involving balloons that much is for sure.

61, until we get concrete evidence and the truth about these “ objects” all questions are fair game!

Do you not find the timing of these “ objects” to be highly suspect?

Since your position seems to be from a point of clarity concerning what the objects are, please enlighten us with that factual knowledge so to save us from posting “ self-depreciating hyperbole “.

Thanks in advance

Different strokes for different folks.
I’m not someone who gravitates towards nefarious plots to fill in clarity gaps, no matter how “highly suspect” others more prone to conspiracy narratives and confirmation bias might view events for which we (the general public) simply don’t have all the answers.

It’s helpful that I fully understand statistical concepts like the important differences between correlation and causation. I don’t let any frustration over not being supplied by (insert whatever expert or power figure here) with full explanations that address my level of understanding/misunderstanding of that topic lead me to ascribing scary motives for that lack of info.

I do adjust my level of trust in each case to that specific situation, the track record of the experts and power figures involved, how likely it is that they’d be trying to pull off whatever ruse is being proposed by conspiracists, how ridiculous it would be for that scenario to be what the perpetrators would choose as the best way to accomplish their nefarious plot, etc.

Wow!

UCLA is that you?

Wow!

UCLA is that you?
It’s funny how you find your musing over the US sending up drones to shoot down and your thinking that our government would be dumb enough to go for that option even if they were indeed trying to pull a fast one on John Q Public to be less of a “Wow” than my far more measured response.
Carry on. Get the bunker prepped.

Every drunk dumbass that has access to a tank of helium will be sending shit up for the next two weeks.
You would be surprised how often stuff like this happens and how many times aircraft are scrambled to investigate. Now with the UFO crowd going crazy everyone will be out copy catting the Chinese Spy Balloon.

So just for fun what's your theory? Honestly I think they are a combo of spy balloons and copy cats. Simple is best but the stories are odd.

My main question is how do you know its not a kinetic threat but don't know how it maintains flight or what it is? How did you figure out it has no internal weapons? The stories dont add up. And now the knucklehead UFO and doomsday preppers are going crazy because either the aliens are coming or its a zombie apocalypse.

Credible will be hard to come by with this one I'm afraid.
And I’m cool with that too.
Much more concerned with what in the heck’s happened with Caleb Mills’ expected leadership presence this season, and will pay upwards of $7.50 to anybody who can interview him about that.

Can't tell you how many Happy Birthday type helium balloons I've seen close up on approach or final. Even at cruise.

I'm laughing because it's funny, but it's true.

It's making me wonder what one of the crazies in my family is coming up with. She's probably going to want to run off to the Cayman's and hunker down in her daughter's house, to hide from the invaders.

Basically, simple is best.

On one hand, what if it was two kids working in a warehouse, ala Jobs and Wozniewski? The only thing about that, though, is the size.

But, I'm not ready to believe that ET is coming next week.

Biden Admin: Gee...we didn't know about this balloon until citizens reported seeing it. However we can't shoot it does to risk of damage in the middle of nowhere. Now we are extra, superdelicious vigilitant and tracking every one of them and even shooting them down over land. BTW, it happened to TRUMP too, and he hid the fact like he hid classified documents.

Chinese: Yeah...we are in the game too. The US has sent double digit balloons over China.

Good article. I have always like The DB.

At least it's rational thought. On another note, my dad told me years ago that we've seen UFO's for ages. We study them when we can.

Balloons have been out there for a long time, together with satellite imaging.

One other thing to mention. NSA and various intelligence agencies were not asleep at the wheel.

The question is NOT what we do about it, the question is, "what do we tell the public?"

I'm of the opinion a government deliberately misleading its people is bad for democracy.

Why not tell the public the truth?

Anyone familiar with “ hobby” balloons?

Is it true they can reach 40000 ft high?

Wouldn’t they have to give off some radar signature or signal so jets and airplanes don’t hit them?

Maybe f4gary knows of these

Hobby balloons are never "planned" to be released. Even those advertising mini blimps are alway tethered to the ground.
I don't know how high they can go before they pop, but I've seen or heard reports on the radio (rarely) above 18,000'.

I’m just relieved that it wasn’t a Chinese spy ballon after all.

Pretty stupid to for US government to state it was a Chinese balloon and create a diplomatic uproar without solid evidence to back up that claim. One question: Why are they saying now that it wasn't a spy balloon?

Which one of the flying objects shot down are you referring to?
