Little has been mentioned about this potential consequence to international students if the judge approves the House v NCAA settlement in April.
There’s tens of thousands of internationals competing in the NCAA, including many of FSU’s best, whose Visa status could be put in jeopardy by the revenue sharing plan as currently written.
Under current law, an international student attending the university on a student visa cannot be compensated without jeopardizing their visa and facing deportment.
It’s a non issue if they forego NIL compensation but the revenue sharing detailed in the settlement goes to all students, a detail that will have to be addressed.
