How did everyone do through Hurricane Michael?

Yeah, that is a usable object, but given limitations, is it really your first choice?

My first choice after reviewing your existing list and the existing responses if you're planning to stay in a place with no power. I'd have paid $20 bucks for those things after using one for five minutes.

Maybe I need to emphasize that this is a restock effort from 500 miles away

No it's not, it's a Ford Escape. These folks will have access to Walmart soon. Hell, Amazon was dropping packages for me yesterday.
I think you're misplacing your focus. Best thing you're going to bring them in the immediate is potable water and a pair of hands.

to a select group of folks who will have done without for a week and are likely to do so for more weeks afterwards. I will not have the ability to help a large community, although my efforts will include as many as possible.

Why do you think these people will be isolated from commerce at large for weeks? Where is this?

My question is more involved. What are the few things that I could possibly provide folks who have been and will be without comforts for weeks/months? How could I truly help you and your wife in my limited efforts?

Load up a Generac 5500. Being able to power a fridge and some lamps and strip lights instead of just having battery lanterns is a huge step back toward civilization.
Well, I have one, but I'm assuming those you're looking to aid do not.

Never mind, it is not. Parking lots along Thomas Drive are clean.

It shows the tree down that I witnessed on Ionic Dr in Tallahassee (just took my generator to my friend's house, but his power was restored before we got there) and shows plenty of devastation along the other areas.
What address are you looking at?

They have a generator. What is it that you would really like to receive after a week of no power ( even with a generator) and widespread devastation?

Thomas Drive in Panama City.

I see damage in Mexico Beach, Tyndall, and PC (but getting less as you go NW). PCB doesn't look like Mexico Beach did. Better dunes, and not on the eye wall?
The noticeable thing about the parking lots is that everyone is gone from the beach properties. Look at Google maps satellite images for how those lots usually look.

Thomas Drive leading down to PC Beach shows no damage or debris. Wierd.

A couple of my favorite places, The Seacrest Wolf Preserve outside of Chipley, and the Bear Creek Feline Center, north of Panama City suffered significant damage to their facilities. Outside of one missing wolf, all the animals are OK, but they both need any help that people can give them. If you're an animal lover, consider donating to one or both of these organizations.

Rode it out behind hurricane windows/doors. Most amazing display of nature I've seen in my 66 years. The aftermath is terrible. Survival mode up until yesterday when I left for Tallahassee to work. House "minor " damage, every tree blown over or broken. Surge stopped 12' from the porch. Our street was the only "canopy street " in Northshore...not anymore.
