in a wedding? I’ll be serving for the second time in 6 months. I can see at least two more opportunities on the horizon. Always a privilege, a costly privilege, but a privilege none the less.

Twice. Once for a friend who was also my best man but we are no longer in contact. Once for my brother who would still choose me if he had it to do over, and I would choose him next time around.

I had 4 guys in the wedding 19 years ago and only one would still be there if the wedding was today.

My best man asked me to be his, but the wedding was in France, and we weren't rolling in cash at the time, so it was a no go.

Twice, once for a older brother and then later for a friend i met at FSU. Funny story is we both started college at FU but neither of us liked it there.

I like this as a spinoff... How many people from your wedding party are you still close with? I'm not married so I can't answer. I'd say of the weddings I've been in I'm still close with all but 2 of those guys. So that's probably 6/8.

I've been a groomsman a number of times; I've never served as the best man.

Of those who were in my wedding 30 years ago:
*My best man I still keep in touch with, but don't see very often (until about 10 years ago we'd get together a couple of times a year at FSU games, but he got transferred to Chicago so doesn't make many games any more)
*Of the other three groomsmen, one I talk to once a year or so but haven't seen in about 15 years. One I'm still good friends with & see him a few times a year, either in Tally or when he comes in town to visit his mom. The 3rd I was still very good friends with, hung out with regularly, got together for either lunch or after work drinks about once a month, until he passed away this past fall.
*My two brothers served as the ushers; I'm closer with them now than I was when I got married

I talk to my best man about once a month and we try to see each other when I'm down in Florida at least once a year. The other two groomsmen are my cousins. We were super close in college but not as much now that I'm in Tennessee and work/life has taken over.

What's disappointing is that one of the cousins' daughters goes to UNF with my daughter (no pics), but they don't have anything to do with each other.

Never, but I have been the worst man ummm, let’s just say, several times.

Best man 3 times - brother and 2 friends
Groomsman probably 8ish times

My best man/best friend and I met in Tallahassee more than 20 years ago. I got married 13 years ago and we (best man and I, not me and the wife) see each other as often as we can, at least a couple of times a year. He’s like an uncle to my son, and my wife adores him (I was with her before I met him, so she’s known him all along). I have a zillion points on Southwest, so when we feel the need to hang out, I just fly him up here (he’s in Florida and we’re in Pittsburgh). I go to Europe every fall for a scientific conference and he’s been coming along on those for a while now. Lots of fun to wander Europe with a longtime friend.

Oh, and he’s not married, and I don’t have brothers, so I haven’t been a best man (groomsman a number of times).

Zero, Their loss.

Many times I’ve been a groomsman

Confirmed bachelor?

I don’t want to brag about how many times I’ve been best man, but let’s be clear: I am a master of wedding speeches. If there were a Pulitzer for them I’d be a perennial contender.

One of my times as best man it was for my good friend that is a gator. Whole family is gators, married a gator cheerleader(dentist), his sister was a gator cheerleader, mom and dad are alumni, boosters, etc. The speech started with the typical jokes and stories, references to alcohol and women, and I finished by pointing out that we only disagreed over our loves for FSU and uf. Then from under the table I pulled out a framed, personalized and signed 8x10 of Bobby Bowden "To D&L, God still loves gators, have lots of Nole babies, Bobby Bowden (+ bible verse reference)". I got a standing ovation from a room full of gators.

Believe me, we tease him about that constantly, but’s he really not.

I think my window of opportunity to add more best man or even groomsman duties is closed. Unless someone gets divorced and remarried I am not sure I am close enough to anyone else to be in their wedding. Although I guess some of my LinkedIn contacts could reach out so maybe there is a chance.

No best man, went with dad as mine. I have 7 guys that are all my close friends and didn't feel right picking just one. 6 are married so been in all of their weddings and then was in two others that were close friends when they got married right out of college but lost touch with them.

This is why I didn't pick one of my brothers. I have 5 of them and wasn't going to choose between them. I made them all ushers.

Bestman - 3 (but one was for the same guy twice)
Groomsman - twice.

Funny how your close teens and twentys friends shift once you hit 30s +. Still buddies with two guys from elementary school. 1 still really close, 1 pretty distant.

Best Man twice - Best Friend and Brother

Groomsman 4 or 5 times.

Being a Best Man is expensive and a real responsibility, but a hell of a lot of fun. Last year I was Best Man for my best friend. It took a lot of work to plan the Vegas Bachelor Party and I picked up all the Groom's expenses, but we had a blast. No one got killed or arrested and we only lost one guy for 12 hours. He turned up drunk and broke, but not dead, so all was good.
