Radio today said up to 500,000 alligators could be displaced north. Plus all the snakes and floating fire ant islands. No one ever thinks about these threats.
Yikes!!!Radio today said up to 500,000 alligators could be displaced north. Plus all the snakes and floating fire ant islands. No one ever thinks about these threats.
Wow! Impressive and terrifying at the same time.
If you've seen how crappy most of the houses are where this hurricane is going to hit, you would understand the concern. I went on a fishing trip in Rockport about 10 years ago and couldn't understand how most of the houses were standing.
Already prepping to be deployed for FEMA emergency response team in the next week or so, if needed. My family in Corpus has moved inland to San Antonio in preparation for the storm.

The problem will now be the rain. Was seeing some 35inch forecasts. One computer model had 60 inches. That is not 100 year or 1000 year but more biblical flooding.
If the fire was caused by a broken gas main (just speculating), then they might have been trying to keep it from spreading. Still surprised by the fact they responded during the height of the storm.Saw some footage of some kind of fire that broke out during the hurricane. The fire department was out there with ladder trucks trying to extinguish the blaze. The winds made that a difficult fight. I don't purport to know all of the details, but it crossed my mind whether it made any sense to "save" a building that would likely have serious wind and flood damage anyway. Hmmmm.
I know this is in Texas, but the thought of this makes my skin crawl!Radio today said up to 500,000 alligators could be displaced north. Plus all the snakes and floating fire ant islands. No one ever thinks about these threats.
Rockport and Aransas Pass are pretty much destroyed. Now have to watch the bayous. Franklins BBQ caught fire last night. Looks like the pit room was destroyed. Sad day in Texas.
Yeah, Rockport got destroyed.

The only good news is there are no reported deaths so far.
News now reporting 2 deaths. Very sad.

Don't know if this is the fire referenced but there's the gas meter. If the fire was caused by a broken gas main (just speculating), then they might have been trying to keep it from spreading. Still surprised by the fact they responded during the height of the storm.
It's a mess. Our office will most likely flood by the end of the day. My business partner lives in Rosharon and he said every road in the area is already impassable and they are predicting 20" of more rain today alone. Never mind what falls tomorrow and Tuesday. Now predicting 55" totals for the 4-5 day period. They average less than 48" for a given year
How much more is being forecasted?I live in Pearland which is south of Houston. 26" of rain so far. It's just an absolute disaster.
