money.

Yes, we aren’t as old as some universities. Yes, we were made co-ed just after WW2.

We have 75 years of co-ed culture at FSU. That’s approximately 4 generations.

Yes, our grad/professional schools are young but we should still start pulling in money from graduates of law, business, and engineering through Last Wills etc. People need to remember FSU in their wills. Business school has been open for 7 decades. Law school 5 decades. Engineering 4 decades. Yes, the COM is still only 20 years old but it’s growing.

We have a ton of retired pro athletes. Charlie Wardjust tweeted last night that he is donating to Rising Spear. That’s what I’m talking about!

Point being we have the grads but we always have had this narrative, perhaps inferiority complex, that we are poor. This sends the message that individuals don’t need to bother donating because the money isn’t there.

However, we had the money to expand Doak in the 90s (buildings came from the state revenue). We had the money to build an IPF. We had the money to buy out WT 21 games into his tenure. We will build the FOF and we we will renovate Doak again.

The truth lies somewhere between the narrative and the reality for FSU’s relative wealth. Yes, we need more but doggone the money is out there.
