This was pre-9/11, but my brother-in-law and his wife were driving on the interstate in Atlanta near the airport. She was driving and he had fallen asleep. When he woke up they had somehow blundered their way onto the airport runway. And lived to tell the story.

Probably not the runway, but a taxiway. Most people haven't a clue what the difference is.

Could very well be. My brother-in-law called it the runway but since he lived to tell the story it was probably a taxiway.

Was it the one that follows a route along a 285 overpass?? I'm pretty jaded, but when I saw a plane taxiing over the freeway, that was pretty cool.

Probably not. That was built more recently when they added the 5th runway.

Can’t remember. It was sometime back in the 90s. Maybe the mid 90s.
