I know the PGA tour would be a better place with Tiger on his game, but...

...he finished today's play with over 50 guys ahead of him and ESPN gives us this in their Golf section: Not only is Tiger the headline, he's the topic of 10 of the first 11 twitter feeds from Harig and Sobel and Collins. Has golf come to the point that nobody else matters to the media? A sad state of affairs.

This is no different than the media in general fixating on one person or issue in general because it's easier to cover and cram down people's throats - esp the throats of those who aren't avid golf fans, the only name they know is Tiger, so this gets their attention.

See: Winston, Jameis

After his 85 today incl an 8 on 18, I wonder how much the media will cover him. He keeps playing like this and I would think people would tune out the Tiger coverage. No one wants to see crap golf.

They haven't stopped covering tim teabags and that guy hasn't been an nfl player for 3 years. Don't hold your breath.

I love seeing him implode. He is one of the biggest tools of all time, consistently rude to and dismissive of virtually everyone. His body is now breaking down from steroid abuse. It is pretty obvious to anyone who pays attention, but the media, of course, never says a word. And "big golf" protects him because he still generates interest (and money) from certain demographic segments. I feel like Jack's record of 18 majors is very safe.

His demise is painful to watch, even for me. It's like a train wreck in slow motion. The engine derailed when he got his tooth busted out and now the cars are coming off the track one by one...

Live in Columbus and spoke with some Memorial Tournament volunteers on Friday. They were working a concession tent at one of the holes. Said they were slammed when the Phil Mickelson group played through. Still didn't prepare them for the amount of people they had to serve after Tiger's group came through...he still generates the greatest following amongst fans. Going into the final day, he is now in last place, so he will play first on Sunday...and because an uneven number of golfers made the cut, Tiger will be playing the final round alone. After winning this tourament five times, this has to be humbling at some level.

Ever hear volunteers praising Tiger? Most of them will confirm what a complete jackass he is behind the scenes.

The volunteers I spoke to were working a concessions stand. They didn't have any contact with the golfers. We have all heard the stories of Tiger as a pr**k.

Among his many character flaws, he is a notoriously poor tipper. In fact, he frequently does not tip at all, and has been quoted as saying that the service people should be happy they had the chance to wait on him. Totally self-consumed jackass.
