If You Had Joined the Military

It depends on what you want to do as a career. Each service is different. If you love gung ho, kill everything and PT to death than the Marines are the choice. If you hate PT and like a desk job, the Air Force enlisted is for you. I did two branches, Navy and Coast Guard. I loved them both. Much more fun than college.

Marines, my father was one and pushed me hard, but his hard work allowed me to go right to college.

When I was a JR in HS, he was a Lt. Col he got me in the Apache simulators in Camp Pendleton, CA. while some of his officers were doing some training. That's as close as he got to turning me.

You were enlisted?
My dad was 20 years USAF enlisted. He flew a computer from a desk. But he did spend two tours in Vietnam at Tan Son Nhut (Saigon) presumably banging hookers before having a family getting to take them to Germany for 3 years. Got his last station at Eglin AFB so they could retire in Florida. He's never expressed any regrets.
