Interesting take from Dance Marathon at FSU

What happens when people make decisions based purely on emotion.
They basically have vowed to not use the words or likes of "Seminole", "Nole", "Spear" or any FSU trademarked symbols. So that they may be more inclusive.
I'm offended by the words dance and marathon. It reminds me that I can't dance or run 26.2 miles.
This is what happens when you don't educate your students. Ignorance runs wild.
It should be a mandatory class for incoming freshman to take a Seminole Tribe of Florida history class. Not optional.

At some point we should just ban inhaling oxygen.
I’m pretty sure that’s where we are headed. The consumption of oxygen must offend someone, somewhere.
I hope none of my booster money goes to that. If you don’t support our tradition it is time to move on. If the Tribe isn’t offended how can these people be? They can do what they want, but I got the right to not fund it as well. I hate it for the kids tho.
A mandatory lesson in the history of the Seminole Tribe would go a long way in transforming the culture at FSU. Imagine a Seminole Indian museum close to Doak.
I think it's a campus fund raiser and various student organizations participate, including all the Greeks.

This is beyond interesting. Way beyond.
I would think as long as the Seminole tribe backs us using the Seminole name, this is a non-issue.....but people are calling for an end to "Paw Patrol", so what do I know...
Not attacking you, but its time America we bury this racial issue and good people stand with good people and bad stand with bad and people recognize right is right wrong is wrong. The people who put this together are clearly wrong & uneducated and totally way off in left field.

I'm all for that, but it's got to be a conversation that discusses everything, not a finger pointing session where we pretend things only happen in one direction.

This action by students is misguided. The movement to remind us that Black Lives Matter has absolutely nothing to do with people in Florida honoring, respecting, and taking pride in our state's unconquered indigenous people, the Seminoles. And, particularly when we work with their tribal leadership in affirming that.our actions have the Tribe's approval.
And did the Dance Marathon students study their state's history? Do they know that the Seminole Tribe included many former African enslaved people who escaped slavery to gain freedom by joining the Seminoles in south Florida?
Florida State celebrates our state's courageous, , resourceful, resilient and entrepreneurial Seminoles. When our students work to raise money for children through Dance Marathon, they can and should be proud to honor their state's Seminoles.
