Interesting take from Dance Marathon at FSU

This action by students is misguided. The movement to remind us that Black Lives Matter has absolutely nothing to do with people in Florida honoring, respecting, and taking pride in our state's unconquered indigenous people, the Seminoles. And, particularly when we work with their tribal leadership in affirming that.our actions have the Tribe's approval.

And did the Dance Marathon students study their state's history? Do they know that the Seminole Tribe included many former African enslaved people who escaped to join the Seminoles in south Florida?

Florida State celebrates our state's courageous, , resourceful, resilient and entrepreneurial Seminoles. When our students work to raise money for children through Dance Marathon, they can and should be proud to honor their state's Seminoles.
Yep, this is bizarre. Are they all going to transfer? It’s going to be pretty hard to get away from the Seminole logos, spears and symbols all across the campus and athletic venues. How on earth could they continue to go to a school that’s associated with these horrific symbols. Seeing these Seminole symbols day after day has got to be just horrible for them. Bless their hearts.

Yep. You don’t have one without the other. Seminoles are FSU and FSU are the Seminoles. No student, politician etc. will change that. There is only one group that can do that and it’s the Seminole nation itself. Would hate to see the day that happened.
