I usually let others talk and I soak in the info from all sources that I read but this is getting ridiculous with all the Bob Stoops talk. The man is not coming to Tallahassee to coach. Read that and start formulating all the reasons why you think he is and breathe. Now that your back from near hysteria please read what I am about to write and exit in an orderly manner like the sane adults I know we can be.
First, this is an opinion just like all the other posts here but I had to get it out of my head since it's been frustrating to see and I will leave it alone after that. I HAVE NO INSIDER KNOWLEDGE. (Just in case it wasn't clear.)
Here are my reasons why it is not Bob:
Numero Uno - Bob is being watched like a hawk these days and will be until the FSU job is filled. He has not been observed making any moves to change location or exhibiting any behaviors of a man on the way out. (Moving vans, family rumors or otherwise.) TELLTALE SIGN.
#2 - The prepping for a coach was real and I believe it to have been for James Franklin. It has been reported that the talks were heating up and that a deal was offered to him. I think he gave indications of the deal being OK'ed and backed out after Penn State started moving the needle in response. FSU prematurely felt like it was done and obviously wanted to set things up for the presser ASAP and got the news that it fell through. Deals may still be ongoing but it seems like a lateral move for a Penn State Guy like Franklin. I think he wanted to get a better deal from PSU all along.
#3 - IF a deal had been put into place and was done with Bob I guarantee you that because of all the moving parts a contract like that requires it would have been leaked along the way. As a matter of fact, FSU would probably be the leaker because if Bob is already coming then it does nothing except create more positive buzz for them on the recruiting trail and with donors. If Bob gets mad that it leaked...oh well, he signed the contract and they can ask for forgiveness later.
I am human and I can be wrong but this would be the single most elaborate cover-up in college football history if this were to be true. Which sounds more likely? Bob secretly getting his life prepared to move to Tally and no one notices or James Franklin lied to get more money from PSU?
I know which one I'd pick and it ain't Bobby. Bobby Boucher, maybe.
