Brutal weekend to visit. Temps were out of control. Unfortunately I spent all 3 days at a my daughter's softball tournament. On day 2 her cleats melted off when temps in the field were 120+

I visited a nephew in Lompoc, CA a few weeks ago and his kid reminded me of the soccer tourney his team won in Knoxville, Tn a few years back. We went over to watch and supplied lots of water as well as shade with a "canopy". Over 100 degrees, which he was used to, but humidity in the 90's almost did him in.
My daughter played soccer on travel teams and high school on mostly "turf" fields that had ground up tires as the base. She often got rug burns, especially with slide tackles, but some others kids literally got burns from turf contact on the hottest days.
I can only imagine the temps on the field at Doak since they closed the bowl in...
