Good series. Binged watched it Friday and Saturday with the wife. Doesn't seem to be based on any one particular book but the writing was excellent, in my opinion. Hope it goes another season. It seems they left it open to do so anyway.

Renewed a few months ago.

I've seen only the first two episodes. Ryan is Jim Halpert without the wry humor, but the story certainly has lots of action. I think I'm going to like the terrorist's wife!

Are either Dwight Schrute or Creed involved? Always felt Tom Clancy overlooked the roles of such men in his tales of international intrigue.

Jack Ryan has been its own industry in books, movies and now tv. If you like the genre in general, check out Berlin Station on Epix. I just finished the first season while impatiently waiting on kickoff and found it much more interesting and complicated, though with less boom boom.

Binge watched the whole season this weekend. Pretty good. Got half way through Ozark and it didn't disappoint.

Hubby and I binge watched the whole season this weekend. I thought it was great.

Now onto Ozark 2 when we have the next chance to binge watch it.

I'm only through 3 episodes. I do find it entertaining and looking forward to continuing it. But I'm not ready to call it "great" yet. So far many of the things have been very predictable and a little far fetched. Seems a little like a better produced network serialized drama. That isn't a horrible thing but expected a little more from an Amazon show.

That's on my list of upcoming shows. I'm trying to force my way through the remaining Dr Who seasons that I missed before the new season starts (Although I've still got all of the last Dr to watch and a few of Matt Smith, so I don't think I'm going to make it).

Does anyone have any idea when they'll ever release season 3 of The Expanse on Amazon Prime?

How did Jake Ryan go from high school hunk to Jack Ryan, CIA officer? And where was Molly Ringwald? Was she killed off at some point? This Jack Ryan looks nothing like his former self.

And now we have Jim Ryan! This is all very confusing!

Watched it, couldn't stand it. Looks like it was produced by Al Jazeera. Every shoe-bomber is a family-first bastion of decency and respect...blah blah blah. Little Brother is an 125 lb unstoppable ninja/strategist/master of disguise/master of combat. Big Brother is 42 steps ahead of everyone. Americans are bumbling idiots.

Executive producers:
- Johnny Depp
- Gwynneth Paltrow
- Mohamed Atta

Sometime after the halfway mark the rhetoric calmed down and they started to develop some American characters into heroes. The ending was satisfying, if predictable 3 episodes earlier.

Timothy Hutton was unrecognizable for the first few episodes, and I used to be a big fan of his; Junior Soprano's right-hand man, Mikey Palmice, has gotten a huge promotion.

I liked it a lot. We binged it over 3 days, taking the weekend off for our trip to tally. I thought the casting of Greer was pretty good. He is a different character than the books and I enjoyed it.

Finished it, and I thought it was a pretty great ride. Really looking forward to (the wait for) season 2.

Speaking of which, I won't be specific for those who haven't reached the end, but the apparent locale and potential plot lines of next year's action could be fun, and perhaps very timely.

While watching this series I finally figured out who John Krasinski reminds me of - he is his generation's John Cusack. Normal enough for guys to relate to, attractive enough for women to fall for without feeling guilty, introspective, and deadpan all day long. When Lloyd Dobler got older he probably started to "sell anything bought or processed". Just like Jim does.

Thought it was good, though not up to my Tom Clancy standard.

Too many implausible events and actions so you definitely have to suspend any rational thought and just enjoy it as a pseudo-super hero type show.

Next season could be pretty interesting. I'm pretty over the brown guy as terrorist storyline, Homeland, among others, beat it into the ground over the last 20+ years.

Although the character is VERY different from the books, I thought Wendell Pierce did a good job playing Greer. Different spin on the character. I've read all of Clancy's books and this series does take a few turns away from the books but it's still entertaining.

My wife and I binge watched it over the course of a few days. Looking forward to Season 2.

Nothing special, wasn't crazy about the cast of Jack Ryan, and tough to believe Greer as an action hero. I will definitely watch season 2, but it didn't live up to the hype I had for it. I don't think it was nearly as good as the early seasons of Homeland.

One thing about casting actors who are really only known for playing one character in their entire career is that folks will have trouble distancing the individual actor from their trademark character.

I can't count the number of times I caught myself calling Jack Ryan "Jim" or noting the trademark Jim Halpert smirk, waiting for him to give the camera a quirky look.

Same with Greer, to me he's Bunk Moreland (from The Wire). There were definitely some personality overlaps between Bunk and Greer, both very grouchy. As with Jim and Jack, both nerdy, sheepish, smartass-ish.

I was waiting for Jack to host an office Olympics when Greer was away.

There's a great mashup of Jack Ryan vs. Dwight Schrute - can't find the link, but it is so funny.

yes, agree 100% he brought an edge of comedy to it.

I really didn't think I would enjoy it that much but I surprisingly did.

I'm not particularly into this genre of story, never read any of the books, and didn't care for any of the movies other than Red October. But it walked a perfect line for me...it was mostly straight ahead plot momentum, but it was fairly intelligently done. It strikes a good balance between two shows I liked for some time but eventually abandoned, Homeland and 24. More momentum and less naval gazing than Homeland, but less progressively absurd than 24. I also thought it was just about the right length...too many shows go 2-3 episodes too long, and I thought this was pretty perfectly paced, it wouldn't have held me through a couple of filler episodes, or an additional two-episode plot twist at the end. The pretty much stuck the ride down perfectly.

I binged it this past weekend & enjoyed it. A few over the top things, but fast-paced & kept my interest.

I thought it was good. Not as good as the Americans or watching Homeland while fastforwarding through all Carrie sections, but I found it better than Homeland WITH Carrie sections and all of the lamer, less authentic spy shows.

I was not really happy with the Jim casting when I heard about it as I am a decent fan of the books (ie I’ve read most of them, probably 85% but don’t LOVE them). But I actually thought he was fine as was the rest of the cast except his future wife which I thought was poorly cast as well but she didn’t wow me.

Did you see Looming Tower? It might be up your alley.
