January 20, 1992

Was a good day.

"The ONLY day where:

-Yo! MTV Raps was on air
-It was a clear and smogless day
-Beepers were commercially sold
-Lakers beat the SuperSonics
-and Ice Cube had no events to attend to was… JANUARY 20, 1992"

I disagree with at least one of the conclusions. Beepers were definitely available in the late 1980's. I knew several drug dealers in my high school that had them as early as 1988. Besides, I remember skipping school with a friend and a couple hotties on that Tuesday in 1989. It was a warm spring day and we picked up some Corona with limes and hung out at a park. April 4, 1989 was a good day. I'm pretty sure that Ice Cube wrote that for me.

They were available, but they hadn't yet picked up the social status/popular appeal that would have them being mentioned in a song. From some article on the internet: "By 1994, there were over 61 million in use, and pagers became popular for personal communications as well." It looks like they were available as far back as the 1950s.

On January 20, 1992, I was 8 days into the job that I would retired from fron 26+ years later. Time sure flies.

April 26, 1992 was the day after my brother's birthday and is my parent's anniversary. On that day I would have been in the 8th grade believing myself to be way cooler than I actually was and probably excited to get home to my Sega Genesis.
