Think Dabo would get first crack.I think if he has the least bit of success he bolts for Bama the day Saban retires.

Staying with Bama through playoffs
This is what UT's sorority row looks like:Keep him away from sorority row. If he can keep it zipped up, it might play out as a decent hire.
Okay, that took a minute...This is what UT's sorority row looks like:

Dabo is too slow. Jimbo and Sexton started negotiating for the position on Saturday.

Well to be fair there were a few who suggested we hire him ourselves...It’s not like UT is an attractive gig to any big-name coach.
If you really-really want a puppy, sometimes you may be forced to take the runt of the litter. Seems like that’s what UT did here. Honestly, given the dismal situation UT was facing, this may be about as good as they could do.

We hired Jimbo with no HC experience. He may work out great; but I think hiring a guy who has never been a head coach at a program that is as big as UT is very risky. I know I would not have hired him at FSU until he was a proven head coach at least at a mid major. Throw in Fulmer as the AD and who knows how this goes.

We hired JF as a coach in waiting and then he hung out with one of the greatest of all times for years then took over. Who knows maybe JP is the 2nd coming of Saban. IMO I think large big time programs are better off having a guy who was a head coach somewhere even in a Div 2 or 3 programs. Being the head guy comes with a bunch of things you don't ever think about as a coordinator. I think part of the reason Kirby Smart has worked out well so far is the amount of time he was a coordinator. You can look at Muschamp and it has worked the other way.
3 out 4 of the current playoff teams (Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson) have head coaches who came into their new position with zero head coaching experience. One of them is in their first year as head coach and another has only been there for two years. So previous experience is probably overrated.
