2:05 p.m.: Jimbo acknowledged that he's concerned about the LB depth. On top of Northrup being out, he said Terrance Smith also is dealing with turf toe. Didn't sound like a long-term issue, but he emphasized that turf toe can be serious. ... Talking about the DL, he said getting Nile back for a full season will be big. They thought he would have a big year last year if he had been healthy. ... Raved about Josh Sweat's work ethic during rehab. Said he has been "relentless" with it. Said there has been great progress, but still too early to know for sure if he'll be ready this fall. He said they definitely hope so. And that's about it all for now. Will have the transcript coming up in a bit.

1:55 p.m.: Said the QB battle will come down to who makes the first 11 better. He spent a lot of time talking about Maguire. Said he can "make all the throws." Very good athlete, can move athletically better than people think. Whoever wins the job, he said he will tailor the offense to their skills. ...

As we expected, Jalen will start out this spring at Boundary corner. He also could play some "Star." Trey Marshall will also work at "Star." He said the field corner position will be a battle of Ryan Green, Marquez White, Calvin Brewton and others. ... Derwin James will work at safety.

1:46 p.m.: Said he thinks it might help this team the fact that outsiders don't expect FSU to be undefeated again. He said their expectations haven't dipped at all, but he knows outsiders will. ... With Jameis gone, other players have tried to be more vocal. He mentioned Maguire, Dalvin and Rod Johnson as some. Said other leaders will evolve. ... Sounds like Johnson, Mavety, Are, Hoefeld (or Eberle) and Wilson Bell will be the first OL they start with. But he said there will be a lot of rotations. .

----------------------
1:40 p.m.: Jimbo starts off by saying yes they lost a lot from last year, but everyone else has too. Said he's very excited about a "young, very talented football team." He said the key to this spring will be "education." Season will be determined by how quickly they can teach and how quickly the young guys can learn.

Said he really liked the energy and attitudes he saw during Fourth Quarter Drills. He said he wants to see chemistry develop ... he said that will take care of leadership on the team.

We just got the initial roster. Here are the numbers for the early enrollees. Looks like 9 is a popular number now.

C. Brewton 10,
G. Campbell 6,
E. Frith 62,
D. James 3,
D.Johnson 14,
J. Patrick 9,
D. Phillips 5,
J. Sweat 9.
