Coach Fisher's comment about how senior DB Malique Jackson's knowledge of Noles WR route running is very revealing. Jimbo mentioned that watching FSU receiver's run routes over the past 3 years has aided him in runnng routes as he switches to add depth to our WR corps. While one can see how that would help Malique pick up Jimbo's route tree more quickly than an incoming freshman Jimbo added another remark that is concerning. He said that since our defense knows our offense's plays, tendacies and receivers routes so well.. defenders are able to "jump the routes".
If our college defenders can do that then why wouldn't defensive coordinators and coaches that have scouted our offensive formations and tendacies also be able to jump our receivers especially on the short timing routes?
Does Jimbo and the FSU offense call too many short pass patterns where the timing and passers accuracy must be nearly precise to complete a 4 to 7 yard pass often in between two nearby defenders?
