Anyone else like to see Jimbo's mix in some of the following:
1) More pre-snap " motion " in order to spread out defenses and not allow them to bring so many defenders into the box.
2) This includes the use of some motion and more the use of QB option near the goal line. Think back to how tight our offensive formations were vs Oregon and how often our inside ground game got stuffed by the Ducks in goal line and short yardage situations. By keeping even our Wideouts in tight around the goal line this allowed the Ducks to bring 8 to 9 guys in the box. They sold out and outnumbered us at the point of attack. A simple fake to our FB, and a QB run or pitch option to our RB walks in easily. ( look at the game video)
3) OSU and Urban Myer's offense uses both power football concepts but also used lot's of pre-snap motion. Their passing strategy places a heavier emphasis on their WR's running more intermediate and longer routes.
4) OSU's offense also uses "more motion" to enhance their running game. The movement of their QB and RB's set up their very effective rushing attack. Inside reverses, option plays and tradional off tackle & drop back passes.
Do you recall that in 3 games in a row last season we scored NO 2nd half offensive TD's in 3 games in a row! What does that say? It strongly infers that our opponents defensive coordinators caught up with our offensive schemes and plays and that Jimbo was not willing to move away from his base offense.
Just, so you don't think I'm some kind of troll, Jimbo or FSU hater let me state that I am very glad that Jimbo is our HC. He is a great recruiter, has brought in some very solid asst. coaches and stands for all the right things. Our coach is a "class act" and refreshingly candid. Just wish he would consider borrowing some of the schemes that others have used with great success from time to time to set up more mismatches.
