I’m headed out to Tahoe for the first time next week with a buddy of mine. Both single and mid 30s, so shooting for a mix of fun at bars and outdoor activities. I’ve been watching these forest fires and it seems to be a little hit or miss in terms of haziness depending on the wind. We’re staying in S Lake Tahoe actually at one of the casinos on the Nevada border. Anything we need to see? I figure we’ll try to do the gondola up to Heavenly Ski Resort one day and will probably look for hikes on the All Trails app. Other than that we don’t have many plans, will just be 3 days. Let me know if there are any especially cool things to do and/or see. We will have a car.

This isn't necessarily for anyone of a certain age group or marital status, but experience the lake during sunrise. It's awesome. Stayed at a family member's condo on the lake one time and it's quite a view.

Got married on the east shore and took the gondola up to the top of Heavenly for lunch.
Used to live in Carson City. Hiking, biking, and boating are the summer activities. Also just sightseeing.
Used to be a bunch of restaurants on the water in Incline.

Be ready for spectacular weather and scenery! We stayed at a condo resort on the south end right at the Nevada side of the border.
Drove over east to Virginia City to see the sights. That was a fun side trip.

The weather looks literally perfect this time of year. Hoping the haze stays away.

Worked at Harrahs Club in middle 60's while finishing FSU. Excellent dinner shows. Saw the Kingston Trio there before they left for their final performance at the Hungry Eye in San Francisco and disbanding. Later honeymooned there and skied Heavenly. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful lake and is the 2nd deepest in the world as I recall.

Can't help you for summer visits. But, we went for skiing a few years ago. Had a condo overlooking the lake in Incline Village. Drove around the lake to head to Kirkwood to ski after they got 36 inches in a 24 hour time period! Skied 4 other resorts while there, so drove around some. The scenery was phenomenal as were the restaurants. Seemed to be a lot of good hiking places for the summer. Also seemed to be perfect for jet skiing, wind surfing, boating, etc. on the lake. Don't think you will have issues with finding things to do or see.

Definitely drive all the way around the lake.
It's 1200' deep. Could be smoky there, the Dixie fire is huge.

Yeah it’s what I’m worried about. Doesn’t seem to be smoky so much as it just looks hazy. But it’s supposed to be less as this week goes on so hopefully nice by next week.

It's definitely hazy. Had friends there last week but they still had a good time.

I was there in May. Get out on the lake! Rent a boat or charter one with a captain. Pirate lake Tahoe and Captain Donnie is who we went out with and had a great time.

Update here... smoke is so bad we’re bailing to Vegas for a couple days. Really can’t do anything outside here right now and views are really limited. We did do a trip to Yosemite yesterday which was a long day trip but def worth it.
