Our daughter's graduation ceremony for her Masters degree is in December. We're planning on giving her a new laptop. She's a behavioural analyst and will be writing a lot of reports requiring a lot of graphs.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Before you ask, no.

How much are you looking to spend? Is portability important? Does she want a 2 in 1/touchscreen? In Windows laptops, the most reputable brands are Lenovo and Asus. Some Dell and HP laptops are also highly rated, but only in the high-end ($1,500+) models.

I'm looking at these two for my wife's birthday:

Oh, and since I'm sure you'll ask > pics.

Looking at some around $1k. She needs the numerical keyboard and it seems all of the models with those are at least 15". That's larger than she wants but she understands that might be a necessity.

Best Laptop I've ever owned.

My wife and I really love our Lenovo Yoga 910s. New you can get them a little over a grand, factory refurb third party reseller you can get them for $800-900 on eBay, and from slightly grayer first party resellers (aka likely stolen ones on eBay) you’re only looking at about $600 just make sure it’s from a seller with over a thousand likes or so.

I've got a high end HP, with solid state drive, etc. I have 5 USB ports, a VGA port, and ethernet port. Strangely enough, no HDMI port, but I have a full size Video Display port. Getting an adapter for full size Video Display to HDMI was a chore. Mini to HDMI would have been no problem.

It doesn't seem to play nicely with Windows 10. Every time I get a new Windows 10 update I have to manually restart multiple times. I also have had issues with HP security (separate from Windows 10).

Previously I've had decent success with Dell and Lenovo. I'll probably go back to one of those when it's time for a new laptop.
