LATE REPORT
Dalvin Cook will be out this week with an ankle injury. Fisher said he hurt it against Georgia Tech. In his absence, Fisher said Vickers and Patrick will split reps. Stevenson too. Fisher said they hope Cook can go next week.

Fisher said Patrick is ready to contribute. Happy to see what he can do.

Also on the offensive line, Derrick Kelly is out (so expect Brock Ruble at RT), and Ryan Hoefeld is questionable with a shoulder injury. Fisher said earlier this week that Alec Eberle has been looking better at center.

Other injury updates: Terrance Smith and Mario Pender are still out, Cole Minshew out, Marcus Lewis out with a concussion (got yesterday).

We asked how Golson is, and Fisher said he's still set to start "unless something changes between now and then."

Video will be up shortly.

FIRST REPORT
Florida State's Thursday session was one part practice and one part walkthrough. Players went in shoulder pads and shorts. Each position group was active and there were some players who were held out two days before the team's noon home game against Syracuse. Now, for the news:

Let's start with who was held out. RB Dalvin Cook and Mario Pender did not participate. Cook, who had a small ankle brace on his left ankle, has been held out this week for rest purposes. Pender has not yet been cleared to return. FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said earlier in the week there is no timetable. LB Terrance Smith was on a bicycle. OL Cole Minshew and Abdul Bello, who is out for the year, were also at practice.

DB Nate Andrews was getting his right hand/arm heavily taped. He more or less had a club around his arm, which was very similar to what he had earlier in the year. DB Lamarcus Brutus was getting a bandage to his knee. It appeared as if he scraped his knee. Nothing more than that. Both Andrews and Brutus participated.

Special Teams: K Roberto Aguayo opened practice taking field goal attempts at various spots on the field within the 40-yard-line. He missed one attempt, which went off the left upright. FSU was working on kickoff returns and there were some aspects of the blocking scheme which were not to coach Jay Graham's liking.

Quarterbacks
: They were working with the receivers during drills. It was more about finding timing on post routes. Both Everett Golson and Sean Maguire appeared solid on their throws. As for the receivers, there was nothing too out of the ordinary.

Running backs
: Johnathan Vickers and Jacques Patrick were taking first-team reps. They went at the same time when the coaching staff and graduate assistants broke out the elastic band attached to the football. It's been used earlier this season to train running backs on how to hold onto the ball among other items.

Offensive line
: At first, they were nowhere to be seen on the field until it was discovered they were inside the indoor practice facility.

Defensive line: The tackles were working again with practice dummies instead of sleds. Odell Haggins was really particular about technique. He had DeMarcus Christmas work on getting his hands higher when coming off the ball. One player, who didn't heed Haggins' instructions, did push-ups before he got back in line to go through drills again. As for the ends, there was more speed work with dummies and some over-sized hoops. The hoops are a new feature and after players went through the dummies, they circled the hoops.

Linebackers: Eye-discipline drills were the biggest takeaway. Reggie Northrup was tested in how well he reacted to determining if he needed to provide assistance on a potential target.

Defensive backs: A staple of the defensive back drills has been backpedaling, reading the football and then catching it when it comes their way. Thursday's drill was more about the defensive backs running toward the ball and then catching it.

Here's your Tweet of the Day:

We're set to get Jimbo Fisher around 6:10 p.m. Make sure you check back for updates from Fisher's media session along with the latest content. Until then. Goodbye for now.
