anyone see their ads on Facebook? They’re reprinting T-shirts from all the old bars. I had a few barley pops one night and made an impulse buy. Bought the Phyrst for myself and the Pub for my brother. Quality seems decent. Price was too much for a T-shirt , but my time machine is at the repair shop.

No but it sounds interesting - do they have one for Kens?
Reminds me of the one my late husband had from Posey's Pool Hall in St. Mark's.
Front said Home of the Topless Oysters - and the back said " I spent a week one night at Posey's"

Isn't Kens still open? I supplemented my income on the pool table in there.

My old Poor Paul’s Pourhouse gave up the ghost. It was a ...?day Lowenbrau club in yellow. If you wore the shirt, Lowenbrau was a buck a piece.

Key West based company, great people. I have a long sleeve Phyrst and it’s good quality.

I like the Phyrst shirt a lot, but I’d feel like a total poser wearing it. It was only open during my freshman year and I never partied there. I lived right across the street in Gilchrist Hall and ordered food from there once or twice. I might as well buy a fake “vintage” Woodstock t-shirt while I’m at it. Now, the LNL shirt I could pull off.

You didn’t even go the final week it was open? Man those were some insane nights. Pretty sure they weren’t carding anyone by then.

I’d love to see if one was framed and hanging in a garnet and gold painted man cave—just to see RRR’s head explode

The Phyrst had a cool vibe...just a chill place to hang out. I think the guy who owned it had a brother that owned the sweet shop that is....maybe still there?

Sweet shop got torn down to make dorms too IIRC.

When did they tear it (The Sweet Shop) down? In the last month or two? It was there when our kid graduated in May....not the same Sweet Shop when I was there in the early 80s, but the structure looked exactly the same. Now the Phyrst got leveled....and there is a private dorm there....next the Chi O house.

I believe there's a big parking garage built on the former Sweet Shop/Phyrst site.

Shucks. My old man worked at the Sweet Shop during part of his time at FSU. This was a couple hundred years ago.
Not really that long back, but he was in the group of WW2 guys who came back to help FSU go coed again in the ‘40s. His odds were pretty good I bet, since the ladies to men ratio was outstanding during his years.

BTW, was the Phyrst location where the old Silver Dollar was located? I may or may not have spent some time there...

got an old barnacle bills tee that says on the back "only one thing tastes better than an oyster ..." and I am sure you can fill in the rest.

Sounds like the old line from somewhere that went something like, “ No muff to tuff, we dive till five, looking for the bearded clam.”

I think that is where the Phyrst used to be.. right across from Gilchrist. Same people maybe.

Southgate Dorm is on the site of where the Phyrst was, 675 W Jefferson...just east of where the Sweet Shop still stands today at 701 W Jefferson. Chi Omega remains at 661 W Jefferson, just east of Southgate. The street that divided the Sweet Shop and the Phyrst runs into the south side of campus is Gray Street.
