Sure there no moral victories and we don't like participation trophies.. We lost the game, plane and simple. They earned the win and won the game.
However, I cannot help but believe that this is a net positive for the program moving forward.
1. The entire Nation was watching, and dare I say most were pulling for us in the 4th quarter. Especially when Milton came into the game, to try and cap off a story book ending to an amazing game.
2. The college football world got to see a glimpse of what a good FSU team can mean to College Football. The atmosphere last night was a good or better than it was against Oklahoma in 2011. Not a single fan left. We are all horse today and still could not fall asleep until about 6am this morning from the emotional high of this game.
3. Recruiting. This was the biggest recruiting weekend of our year. Over 100+ recruits in attendance and I can't help but believe that they loved everything they saw from the Noles tonight (except the W). They saw us fight. They saw us never give up. They saw us come from 18 points down in the 4th quarter to tie the game. They saw the fans as loud and proud as ever. They saw the love. They felt the love and they can picture themselves on that field and visualizing how they could have made us just 1 play better tonight to win that game. We will see a HUGE net positive from this game on the recruiting trail.
4. With all the negativity surrounding this program in the past, it is nice to have the feel good story of the year on the team. Instead of the media drumming up fake stories about Winston and dogging him every chance they can, we have a guy they will get behind and rally around and it will be interesting to see what the season look like after tonight.
5. A bowl game is no longer our ceiling. EVERY game on our schedule is a winnable game. Are you scared of 3 point Clemson? What about blown out Miami?.. Scared of 0-1 UNC? Florida didn't cover the spread against Willie Taggart. Every game this year is a game that we can win. We just took #7/#9 to OT and had chances to win.
6. The fans are excited again. The product on the field is worth watching and investing time and money into. We have the right coaching staff. We have the players THIS year that can win games.
