FSU sports information:

The sixth-seeded Florida State women's basketball team (24-9, 13-5 ACC) concluded the 2024-25 campaign following a 101-71 defeat to third-seeded LSU (30-5, 12-4 SEC) in the second round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

Ta'Niya Latson surpassed Sue Galkantas for the program single-season scoring record set at 710 while Makayla Timpson broke her own single season rebounding record set at 341.

Latson extended her career postseason scoring record with 30 points, converting 11 shots with seven rebounds and four assists. She tied the program record for most points set in an NCAA Tournament game, set by April Traylor against Tulane in 2001.

The All-American's second-chance layup in the first period broke the program single season scoring record as she now holds the honor at 731 points. Latson averaged 25.2 points over 29 games played, holding the title of the nation's leading scorer.

Timpson recorded a 26th consecutive double-digit scoring effort with 14 points off seven field goals with nine boards. The forward improved her single season rebound program record from a year ago with 350 rebounds.

O'Mariah Gordon dished out five assists with her seven point total while Malea Williams put up seven points with four rebounds. Sydney Bowles launched two three-point makes to propel her to a 10-point performance.

Latson opened the first possession of the contest with a fast break layup to begin scoring and scored the opening 14 points for the Seminoles before all five starters scored points including a 10-point second quarter from Timpson. FSU concluded with 22 points in the final half of play.

The Florida State women's basketball team completed a historic season finishing 24-9. The Seminoles recorded 24 wins for the first time in five years and secured 20+ wins for the fourth consecutive season.

Latson, Timpson, and Gordon were all named to the All-ACC First Team, tied for the most of any team this season.

Latson finished second in votes for the 2025 ACC Player of the Year while Timpson finished second in votes for the 2025 ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

All season we seemed to have one quarter each game where we just weren't "on". That was the third quarter of this game. Against really good competition, that can't happen. Credit to LSU for adjusting their defense but in the end, we still should have made this more competitive.
