I was talking to a couple of people on Saturday and they told me that they've found Lyft to be more efficient and cheaper than Uber. They told me this is especially true in Chicago, which is where I'm going on Friday for four days.

What are your opinions?

Lyft was a few dollars cheaper per ride in Boston a few weeks ago. Quality of the experience was pretty much the same.

Was in Tallahassee this weekend and used both.
$ was so close between the two that we just picked whichever had a car closer to us.

The one odd thing was two of the drivers worked for both uber and lyft.

most of the drivers now do drive for both. it requires having 2 phones to do so though i believe.

Ride with a classic

Lyft is harder to get approved for, so in theory you get better drivers. Lyft is better to drive for, according to the drivers I've talked to.

I use Lyft 2-3 times a week., don't use Uber at all anymore.

I’ve never used Lyft. My last few experiences with Uber haven’t been great. Cars have been complete crap...old and dirty. One was missing hubcaps and had “wash me” written in dust.

I recently made the switch from Uber to Lyft for these same reasons. I haven’t noticed much of a difference in rides since most of my drivers drive for both and i don’t really pay close attention to the price.

I ordered one of their black cars to take me from the airport to the hotel. A back Lincoln pulls in and it looks decent from far away. Up close it had dents and some amateur body work covered with black spray paint. The inside wasn't much better.

Never used Lyft. Mainly b/c I'm too lazy to download the app an add my credit card info...and b/c it's a commodity (ride-sharing services, that is) and just like I don't care which airline I fly (other than for their frequent flyer perks) I don't care which ride-sharing service I use. They're all the same.

I feel the exact same way. Only use Uber infrequently so don't feel that I need both options. I don't fly enough these days to worry about miles.

I've only used uber a few times when out of town for seminars or vacations; when in Vegas a few weeks back, I'd say half the rides we took drove for both. The general consensus among the drivers was that there was little difference in the two; they just grab whichever has a nearby fare.

Inside the Loop. I've found that walking + transit > Uber and Lyft.

I've used both. It really depends, but recently, I've used Lyft more b/c they have been sending me credits for up to $5 off a ride.

I as I have ceased to operate a personal vehicle and use either or the two will say that they are pretty much interchangeable in that many drivers are working under both entities. Lyft is slightly cheaper but not as prevalent for my ride typically to work at @ 3: 00 AM Other than that There is little difference between the two. That being said I'm in Tally, not sure other places

I find that they are basically the same, especially since most of the drivers seem to just alternate back and forth. In Hawaii, only Lyft will let me schedule, so if I need to set up an early morning airport ride, I will use Lyft to ensure someone is there to pick me up. As a generality, I find that Uber cars tend to be a little more to specs than Lyft, but I will use whichever is more readily available when I need to ride.

I’m pro Lyft. Made the switch when they started partnering for Delta. Uber may have the edge (in terms of availability) in more rural areas. If I’m in a hurry, I fire up both apps and take first available.

What are the terms/perks of the Lyft/Delta relationship? Wasn’t aware of such an arrangement. Might influence my decision.

Skymiles for every dollar you spend. It was 3x miles for trips to/from an airport, but now it’s 2x miles. That’s what got me using them, but I’ve found the drivers and vehicles to be a bit nicer.

Taken Uber a couple dozen or so times. It’s ok, met some interesting drivers and others who barely spoke. Cars have been hit or miss but not as nice as they used to be.
Never tried Lyft.

I never take taxis unless I have to. Most are disgusting rattletraps. Absolute favorite anywhere are the black cabs in UK. Nearly every driver I’ve ever had has been fantastic.

I used lyft in NOLA because they gave me 20% off for the weekend. Waited 15 minutes for a car and a taxi cab pulls up. 27 taxi cabs drove by while waiting for the lyft to show up. Not entirely impressed with their service thus far.

I used Uber exclusively because it is integrated with our expense system at work. But as others have stated their quality standards aren't what they once were. That is largely dependent on the city I am in.

Lyft treats and pays drivers better so I use them whenever possible however if Uber is cheaper or significantly closer, I’ll opt for them.

Live in NYC so usually they’re both close.

I was NYC last week and Juno is catching on there. My Lyft driver said they pay better and are cheaper. Business model doesn’t make sense but worth a look.

Yea I use Juno also, they treat their drivers best of the three (in terms of % of fare paid to driver - they also used to give drivers equity to share in the company's success).

They also give you a two week 30% discount for being a new or referring a new user. The usual discount rate is 10%. However the downside is they have fewer drivers so the wait tends to be 4-5 mins longer, which isn't an eternity. I'll use them whenever I have a couple extra mins to spare.

They were acquired by Gett, an Israeli ride-sharing company, in 2017 but recent rumors have suggested Gett is looking to sell them off.

Glad you mentioned them... my order of preference is Juno, Lyft, Uber.

The homies at Lyft have just sent me electronic message informing me that I'll be getting 25% off all rides until mid-Sept. Huzzah!

every month lyft gives discounts if you are rated 5 star. i just got a message saying 50% off my next 10 rides. i will use them for the next 10 times, but i usually take whichever is cheaper

I live in Chicago and I find the Lyft cars here to be utterly disgusting. Filthy. Uber X isn’t much better. I will only use Uber Select or Uber Black in Chicago. Compared to most cities I travel to, both Uber and Lyft flat out suck in chicago
