I understand posters wanting to point the finger, assign blame and call for changes after a few games where we were anything but dominant. I am frustrated, too. But take a step back from the current season and consider what Coach Fisher has accomplished in the short time he has been here. A few points:
1. We are nationally relevant again, having won a National Championship in 2013 and the chance to play for one last year.
2. We had, and continue to have, one of the most dominant runs in the modern era of college football, having only lost 1 game since the end of 2012. Think about that.
3. We are putting more players into the NFL than ever before, including the #1 overall pick last year.
4. This was always supposed to be a rebuilding year, with most on this board predicting anywhere from 1 to 4 losses. We are watching that play out in real time.
5. Our rivals like UF and Clemson are getting better while it seems we are getting worse, but in reality, both have been down for so long that it was only a matter of time before they got better. When programs spend that much money on coaching and new facilities, it's rare for teams to stay down that long.
6. At the end of the day, no matter what happens this season, we still have the best coach in college football. Find me another coach that has found as much success at a program in such a short amount of time as Jimbo has.
7. For those saying Jimbo isn't the same coach without Jameis, how do you explain his success at other schools like LSU? Not every coach goes undefeated every season (look at Saban at Alabama right now). It's completely unrealistic to expect a team to stay dominant consistently. But look at the great coaches like Saban and Meyer and they continue to come back to the National Championship picture at different times in their careers. We will under Jimbo, too
8. This team is young and if anything, it should make you incredibly excited about the future. By the end of the season, we aren't going to be making as many mistakes as we are now. If you are going to judge this season, judge it by how we finish and not how we start.
9. For the Kelly haters, you have to know that Jimbo sees where there are problems. If we drop more than 2 games, that might be enough for Jimbo to make a change heading into next season.
10. We are still one of the most elite programs in the country. We will continue to get the best recruits and build better facilities. Compare us to a program like UM, which never came out of their "lost decade."
