The One Read Wonder is finally getting hit too.It is just like I said last week when Mariota got that stelar debut. What is the difference between Mariota last week and losing big to the Browns this week? Teams now have some real film on him. They have more of an idea what the a Titans are going to have him do. Mariota may very well make it as a Pro QB. But he is going to have to do it no different that the Bradys, Mannings and Rodgers do it: making reads and delivering the ball accurately into tight creases.
I tried to tell my Nashville cohorts that Tampa's defense had a lot more to do with how he looked then he did. He was hitting WIDE open WR all day. It must have sucked to be that secondary this week in practice
Marcus is still doing the following:
1) making 1 read throws
2) playing out of the shotgun most of game
3) doesn't secure the ball when he runs
4) doesn't feel pressure
5) thinks he can still be a runner at this level
Ken is also fooling people by calling a lot of plays he ran at Oregon
Yes..fumbling like crazy...he had two prevent defence touchdowns though...
Please.. same scenario as Winston last week with his two touchdowns..lets see how its reported as the folks did not mentioned what you said about JW..
No Mariota fumbles reported on ESPN?
NFL is on ESPN 2 my friend..Tell me something how come the defense was able to stop him when he was going for the tie score...
They were agressive again...
Its on my local network...anyway we will continue to see during the season..
When did the sack fumble happened..and recovered by browns..
Hmmmmm...OK.. he should of scored to at least make 21-28 according to your praise of Marotta and not Cleveland's defense.
The guy is going to be good but he was poor today...
HE has ran the ball twice. Not sure where you are getting that he is thinking he can be a runner at this level. And the o-line has been awful all day, he hasnt had much of a chance in doing much.
Tenn runs the spread option a lot and he scramble a lot of times and got tackled at the line of scrimmage. He had one run where he failed to slide and receive two big hits. If the titans think they can run him, good luck with that in keeping him healthy.
Again, he ran 3 time today, and I dont think any were designed runs. He took one big hit running, which if you watch the play, his shoe comes off and he stumbles. He probably doesnt take that hit if he didnt lose his shoe. And no, the Titans do not run a lot of spread option, not sure where you are remotely seeing that. They had one run-pass option last week, and one this week. In two games, has has ran the ball 5 times total. There is no way you have watched the Titans and can come away thinking Mariota runs all day. For perspective, Winston has ran the ball 12 times in two games.
Maybe we're defining spread option different but half their plays, he is out of the shotgun and fakes a hand off to his running back like Oregon does a lot. He think takes off runs and think he can get and fail. The double hit wasn't because of the the shoe falling out but on that "shoe" play, he fumble the ball and actually he fumbled it 4 times and threw an int that he was lucky to count because of a penalty that had to do nothing with his interception.
A play action is not a spread option, not at all. In none of those situations where he fakes a hand off out of the shotgun is him running considered an option. The Titans run a pro style system. Have they thrown in a few plays for him here and there? Yes. But in no way shape or form have they been running the spread option.
The interception that was called back was a miscommunication. Kendall Wright sat down on this route and Mariota threw it over his head. Whether that was on Wright or Mariota I am not sure, but it is obvious Mariota wasnt expecting him to stop. It happens. He is a rookie, there are going to be tough days. But again, no one could have watch that game and thought Mariota was the problem. Was he great? No. But he was no where near as bad as you guys are making him out to be.
An play action is involves a under center snap not a shot gun snap.
The Browns safety followed the Marriota's eyes the whole way and went to the spot.
He fumbled the ball 4 times and threw an int; team and refs bailed him out. This isn't anything new; he was none for not protecting the ball in college.
I agree, he needs to protect the ball better, no one is denying that. That being said, he was not the reason the Titans lost. They made mistakes all day with penalties, and gave up 3 big plays that resulted in TDs, that is why they lost. Even the last TD pass by Manziel was a 3rd down play, where if they stop them they get the ball back with about 3 minutes to go and have a shot to tie the game. But when you give up a 60 yard TD pass on that play, then obviously you are going to lose. That is not on Mariota. The 85 penalty yards are not on Mariota. The punt return is not on Mariota. The 7 sacks and pressure all day, is not on Mariota. Last week everyone on this board was cutting Winston some slack because his o-line got dominated and he is on a bad team. I agree, he is on a bad team and deserves some slack. The thing is, the Titans were also 2-14 last year. They are not good and they lost one of their top olineman early today. Why is Mariota not getting some slack too? The Titans o-line was dominated all day long.
You can run a play action out of any formation. Regardless of the terminology you want to use, those plays are not option plays. An option play involves options. Faking a handoff to a back, and then looking to throw, is not an option play in the least, it is a pass play.
I agree that he wasn't the reason they lost and I laughed my head off when my friends thought they could win 8 games this year after last week. Titans are still a 4-5 win team and a lot has to do with that they can stop the run or the pass and that showed today.
Tennessee FumblesI didn't see Mariota play today, but his stats don't look bad at all. Something I'm missing?

It appears that Cubs79 has some strong man-love for MM
It's not man love, it is actually having watched the game.
How many games have you watched him?Watched the game? Possibly. Even probably.
Understand the offense he is running? Not really.
