Anyone have any insight on Mavin Saunders progress so far this off-season? I know he has seen some good action and was featured in some of our two tight end sets. In the past, Ryan Izzo and Jeremy Kerr have edged him out due to better blocking ability and more consistent route running. However, with his size and freakish athleticism (6'5 250), I feel like he could be a secret weapon against Alabama and a great red zone or third down threat. Thoughts? Sometimes we forget just how key of a weapon O'leary was for us in the 2013 season.
This is a big IF. However, between our bigger receivers (Auden Tate 6'4/6/5, Keith Gavin 6'2/3, and George Campbell 6'5 and all being give or take 220+ lbs) along with some of the two tight end sets we can bring, I find it hard to believe that wouldn't be a scary run blocking combo with a lot of play action options to work off of.
