There used to be a place in west Tally that was a stuffed pizza place. Maybe on West Tennessee. I think it’s been closed for a long time. Anyone remember the name?

What time frame? I’ve been here off and on since 94 and don’t recall anything like that around Tallahassee other than I think there was a Pizzeria Uno for a couple of years that might be what you’re thinking of depending on what you mean by stuffed crust. I was gone other than football pilgrimages from 98-02 so maybe something in that timeframe.

It may have closed around when you started coming here. It was s pretty weird place. Kinda old interior. Was out in an odd area too if I recall correctly.

Eastside Mario's?

I never actually went there so no idea if that's it. But I think that place existed around the time you're alluding to.

Amazingly enough, a remnant of that chain still exists in Niagara and other parts of Ontario. I didn’t stop in and check it out for nostalgia’s sake though.

Eastside Mario's was on North Monroe.

The Loop brands itself as "Chicago style" pizza (hence the name), but it's really not. It started in Jax and still exists there and elsewhere.

I was in Tally from 79-83...there was a pizza place called Godfathers on West Tennessee in the vicinity of Fred's Backdoor and Whataburger...perhaps slightly west of that, on the south side of Tennessee. Pretty good product as memory serves....

The chain still survives in Savannah and a few other places. It’s actually quite good imo. It’s not going to win any awards but it’s better than Pizza Hut.

None of these are the one. It wasn’t a chain and it was pretty fair West. Not too close to the university. It was maybe both an Italian restaurant and it had the stuffed pizza. Local owner, kinda a strange place. I’ll remember it one day. Maybe. Hahahahaha.

I don't know because I never went. I just figured some people might consider Chicago style pizza to be stuffed.

Yeah the loop has Chicago style pizza, but I only got their goat cheese, caramelised onion and sausage pizza which was a thin California style pizza. It was pretty good and I do “miss it”. Although ever since I make my own omelette with similar ingredients by sautéing up some sausage and using the sausage grease to carmlize some onions. Then I use those two ingredients plus fresh basil leaf, fresh cherry or pear tomatoes and goat cheese to fill an omelette. It’s probably my favorite omelette combo (although there’s a lot of them to like).

Dating myself. In the mid ‘80, Pizza Inn was on W. Tenn. St. Between were Momo’s and Mr. Roboto are. Used to have a great buffet.

I survived my first 2 years, in '69 and '70, on pizzas from a place just on campus on Tennessee called Chanelo's (I think). I would have died from malnutrition without them. It was just down from the Campus Art Theater, perhaps the scuzziest porn palace I've ever seen.

Yeah, couldn't remember the name but remember the pizza. Pizza Gourmet. Thanks for that - was bugging me to remember the name. Really good pizza.

I grew up in Tally and used to go there with my parents as a kid. The Italian sausage they used was greasy, but oh so good. The added bonus was seeing the coeds that came in the place. I shed a tear when that place closed.

Funny enough, the NY locations don't offer a side of ranch like the local ones.

Right before or after that scene, Michael says, "Yeah, and if you're lucky you might get to see a celebrity while you're here too" and then Conan O'Brien walks right in front of him but he's (obviously) clueless, so he doesn't recognize him.

Steve Carrell on The Office was the funniest thing on television from the late 2000s to the early 2010s, and probably the funniest thing we'll see for a while.

The Pizza Place that was awesome in Tally in the late 70's/early 80's was called The Subway and it was on the bottom floor of The Building Kens is in..there is a Coffee Shop in there now last I saw..they had trays of Pizza and served Pitchers of Mixed Liquor Drinks...it was a lot of fun in there

Pizza Gourmet had two locations. The one on West Tennessee near the Cactus Motel had the buffet and there was one on the north side of town. It was on Crowder Road about two blocks east of North Monroe. The Crowder location had all-you-can-eat spaghetti on Monday nights. I think that location went out of business thanks to me.

In late 70s-early 80s, there was a great pizza place on North Monroe where 4th Quarter now is. Anyone remember its name? I thought it was another Pizza Gourmet location, but my memory isn't great.

There was a Barnaby's right across the street

I remember The Subway - it was indeed great - but when I was there it wasn't in the building below Kens, it was in a standalone building at the corner of Tennessee and Dewey (there's a McDonalds on that spot now). It was there my first two years of college, then closed. A Skyline Chili opened up in the building for a year but didn't make it.

Wasn't there a place called Mama's?

In remembrance of Bowery Balls
