A lot of talk on here about how Mike needs to hire some stud recruiters to help him land big time 4 and 5 star recruits. The reality is, that's not happening this year, and if Mike doesn't start killing it in the portal again, he won't be here much longer. We don't have a ton of talent on our current roster, and a lot of that talent is going to transfer out. Our high school recruiting class is going to be awful by our standards. We are taking the scraps that other big programs don't want. A bunch of projects that frankly might not even play here. Wynn and Thomas are both going to flip. We probably won't land a single top 100 recruit. What top recruit would want to come here when we just went 2-10 and don't even have position coaches yet? This early signing period makes it extra tough for coaches in Mike's situation. There's really nothing he can do. Mike's only chance at saving his job is completely revamping this roster through the portal. You can't complain about this approach because it's really his only option at this point. Mike has made his bed and now he has to lie in it. He decided he wants to be the portal king, now he has to prove it again. We should have tons of NIL left over for the portal now that our high school class has fallen apart. We could sign the best portal class in the whole country. We will have tons of money to throw around and it will be much easier to recruit once our staff is complete. Like it or not, the portal is the only way for Mike to succeed at this point. We can worry about high school recruiting later. Mike has to completely revamp this roster in one offseason or he will lose his job. If we have another awful season next year, I am confident his buyout will be paid and he will be gone.
